HOUSTON - Sen. Ted Cruz and Congressman Beto ORourke are set for three debates ahead of the U.S. Senate election.
The debates are set for Sept. 21 in Dallas, Sept. 30 in Houston and Oct. 16 in San Antonio.
The first two debates one at Southern Methodist University and the other at University of Houston will focus on domestic policy. The final debate at a studio in San Antonio will focus on both foreign and domestic policy.

Bad idea.
Is Beetle O’Bailey going to wear his little black sequined dress?
Beto O'Rourke will always just be Wendy Davis with a penis, but one must admit he picks out nicer dresses to wear than she did.
For Beto. Cruz is a very, very good debater.
Public speaking and emotional manipulation are O’Rourke’s strengths. Cruz made me cringe throughout the GOP primaries.
He's a master. Will it all be in Spanish?
There were five debates scheduled but O’Rourke didn’t show up for the first two.
Cruz was horribly unlikable during the GOP primaries but this is different. It’s Texas. Hopefully he is grounded in reality and not too beltway-ed out. I cannot stand the Beto kid.
“Cruz is a very, very good debater.”
i watched all of the GOP primary debates and i did not think Cruz was a good debater at all ... apparently his brilliance at debating was little more than part of the fake persona he build up over the years ... I actually initially bought into it because I didn’t know any better, and therefore was shocked at just how poor a debater he actually was during the GOP primaries ... hopefully, Cruz will make a much better showing in the Texas Senate debates ...
“Bad idea.”
Why?
Butt0 is another 0bam. Promise anything and everything.
I agree. I hope there is some spark in Cruz. He needs to come out SWINGING and not stop!
This is not a good idea. While I don’t think I’ll ever hold Ted Cruz in the regard that I did coming into the 2016 Presidential primaries and don’t really like the guy anymore, I certainly don’t want another photogenic commie asshole in the Senate.
So, Cruz needs to win, and whoever convinced him to do this is an idiot. He is not personable, his stage presence is stiff, his voice is nasal. His opponent is personable, good stage presence, good voice. Tailor made situation to drag Cruz down, not lift him up. Just a bad move no matter how you cut it.
Cruz is going to have to absolutely knock it out of the park in these debates to overcome his disadvantages here, and after 2016 I honestly don’t think he can.
That Trump rally just got way, WAY more important, and cannot come soon enough. Please drag this strange man across the finish line, President Trump, we need his reliable conservative votes to support your agenda.
Obviously you missed his Senate seat debates.
Highlights...
He was debating Lt Gov Dewhurst who had then been in office 9 years and knew a thing or two about Texas government.
ODourke ( ☭ ) is virtually unintelligible as most of what he says is just keywords and catch phrases loosely strung together.
I am thinking ODourke ( ☭ ) might not make it to the last debate.
.
Maybe they can turn in their debate answers on paper, or maybe it can be handled like high school debate club or something, because what I saw in 2016 was no master of debate. Maybe he’s getting lost in thinking he’s winning points in that sort of setting, when the real point is persuading people to vote for him? I don’t know what it is, but he’s now really got his work cut out for him, and just walked right into it.
Robert Francis is going to talk?
Bobby Frank??? Be a good Irish boy and go away and be Democrat.
Cruz did pretty well in 2016 before Trump pulled away. You make it sound like he did no better than Jebbie.
If Cruz had the Trumpian ballsiness and wit to pull it off, he’d kick off the debate with an elaborate and showily correct pronunciation of O’Rourke’s Hispanic nickname, Beto. Then ask him how he acquired that name, being so unusual for an Irish American as it is.
He’d flub it though, like that rat copulator crack he made during the primaries, whatever it was supposed to have meant.
