President Trump reportedly wanted to immediately and publicly acknowledge that U.S.-led forces engaged Russian mercenaries in Syria earlier this year, killing hundreds of them, but senior National Security Council staff, led then by H.R. McMaster, intervened, saying it would be unnecessarily antagonizing to Moscow.
The president is said to have wanted White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to immediately acknowledged and take credit for fending off the Russian mercenaries.

The life of a mercenary is fraught with peril.
Get out of Syria. Get out of Iraq. Get out of Afghanistan. If we want to import refugees import the Christians and Jews (those few that are left) from those countries and stop importing muslims.
Our policy in the ME is a mess. Our policy vis-a-vis the Russians is a dangerous mess.
All that said, Trump is still the best president in the last two centuries.

So Trump intended to tout “nobody has been tougher on russia than Trump”?
MSM would focus on “nobody has been tougher on Donald Trump than Robert Mueller or John McCain”.
