Emanuel's Choice Was Either Get Out Or Get Beat

There are various exit strategies for a Chicago mayor. [G]et out before getting beat and not run for re-election. The most painful and humiliating is to run and get defeated. A mayor has to be egregiously inept to lose. And then there is the great beyond, dying in office.

Smart mayors get out before they're voted out. Emanuel is a smart mayor. Make no mistake about this: With close to $9 million on-hand, Emanuel would have run in 2019 if he thought he would have won. His advisors concluded that he would not win, so he bailed, spewing forth the usual drivel about spending time with his family.

Polls indicated that Emanuel's "approval" rating was barely over 30 percent, and the Jason Van Dyke trial in the shooting of Laquan McDonald was just starting. A poll from the Gary McCarthy campaign had the mayor up 25 to 22 percent over the former police superintendent in the Feb. 26 primary, with the other 11 candidates in single digits, and McCarthy winning the runoff 55-45.

Convicted criminals may be rehabilitated, but an incumbent with Emanuel's numbers is beyond resuscitation. He is DOA. And for a guy with a colossal ego like Emanuel, that is utterly unacceptable.

All the problems that Daley avoided, particularly the under funding of city pensions, came home to roost after Emanuel took office. Emanuel won by a desultory 332,171-258,562 or 56.2 percent, in the 2015 runoff, and he approached 2019 with plenty of money but no fervent base. He was disliked by many, and despised by many more. Against mediocre opponents, Emanuel's campaign theme would have been: They're worse them me. And with $1 billion in additional pension payments due annually during the 2019-23 term, Emanuel's plight would just keep getting more onerous. So he bailed. Smart move.

Public employee unions are the tiger that Democrats in the big cities are riding hoping they will not be eaten. As long as they keep feeding them with taxpayer dollars they are fairly safe but the clock is ticking and the system is rigged.

There are so many sweet heart deals concerning public employee retirement plans it is more like a ponzi scheme then a real retirement plan. And like all ponzi scheme you eventually run out of money to pay for it all.

When the city can not pay, and can not borrow anymore nor tax anymore the Courts will rule they must pay.

Taxes will go up and ....people will begin moving out, first the city then the state which means less money from taxes even when they keep raising them.

It is an endless cycle that will destroy the city (and the state).

All because they wanted the union vote.

Obama and the Chicago Gangsters are out of power, so Rham can no longer siphon money from the US Treasury into his personal accounts.

AND THIS-----SEPT 2016--- officials from the State, Justice and Treasury departments said the $1.3 billion to Iran was paid in cash on Jan. 22 and Feb. 5. The money came from a little-known fund administered by the Treasury Department for settling litigation claims. The so-called Judgment Fund is taxpayer money Congress has permanently approved in the event it's needed, allowing the president to bypass direct congressional approval to make a settlement. The U.S. previously paid out $278 million in Iran-related claims by using the fund in 1991.

Republicans have decried the payments as ransom, a charge that Obama administration has rejected.....a group of Republican senators announced their support for legislation that would bar payments from the Judgment Fund to Iran until Tehran pays the nearly $55.6 billion that U.S. courts have judged that it owes to American victims of Iranian terrorism.

UPDATE H.J.Ansari Zarif, the deputy for parliamentary and Iranian affairs within Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he would expose "everyone who allegedly accepted bribes" to facilitate Obama's nuke deal with Iran. "... we will reveal which western politicians received monies during nuclear negotiations to make #IranDeal happen,” Mr. Zarif reportedly said.

This also explains why Obama blithely handed over billions of tax dollars to Iran. Looks like Obama and his crowd got filthy rich on this deal.

In case you wondered how the Halfrican intended to pay for his billion dollar final resting place dedicated to the Sun God….”Obama’s "presidential center." NOTE: Obama said no federal funds will be used......just tax dollars with an Iranian postmark.

In addition to the $173,922 Jarrett earns per annum as President Obama's senior adviser, she is also paid an annual pension of $35,660 for the eight years she served as chairman of the Chicago Transit Authority, according to a Chicago Sun Times investigation. Jarrett was appointed to chairman of the agency - a part-time position - in 1995 by then-mayor Richard Daley, whose brother, William Daley, served as Obama's chief of staff.
