CBS News’ David Begnaud has confirmed with a senior official at FEMA that these viral images shared to Facebook earlier in the week do indeed show “what may be millions of water bottles” that were sent to Puerto Rico by the U.S. federal government and then never delivered to those in need by local authorities
We really need to send our ambassador to Spain to set up a meeting with Trump and the Spanish PM and FM. At the meeting, apologize for the Spanish-American War, “Sorry guys, terrible misunderstanding, we really want to make this right. We can’t give you back the Phillipines, they’re a sovereign country, but HERE’S PUERTO RICO BACK! All yours!”
Sounds a lot like new orleans. IIRC, the louisiana dem govener complained W didn’t send fed gov help during/after katrina, problem was the state neede to officially ask for help, the lib dem politicians didn’t even know that.
I took a cruise in January that had stops in PR and a few other impacted islands. The others only had two cruise ships in port and visible signs of construction. PR had eight cruise ships which filled most of the dock activity. San Juan had a major festival going on that day! One can’t help butsuspect that all of this took away from rebuilding efforts.

Like immigrants? We are already Americans. Have been for over 100 (ONE HUNDRED) years. American citizens on American soil, not aliens on alien soil.
Porta Rica is the most visible and glaring testimony to US colonialism and imperialism. Either give it back to Spain, if they are stupid enough to take it, or set it free so it can enjoy the blessings of liberty for its people.
POTUS, Trump is right on the money. Puerto Rico’s troubles have existed for many years with corrupt politics on the island, mainly within the Democrat Party. that is simply why so many Puerto Ricans opted to use their USA citizenship to move into the USA proper, mainly, New York, New Jersey, Florida, etc.
The island which should be the leading shinning “gem stone” of the Caribbean in tourism and off shore production is but, a shadow of what it should be. Actually, POTUS, Trump has saved the island, its hotel business is booming. If the remaining hard working Puerto Rican population ever put the right business driven politicians into office, the island would soon become the most successful “Masterpiece” of the entire Caribbean basin measured by all parameters.!!!
It is truly a shame that such a beautiful island paradise has been so mismanaged by incompetent, criminal Democrat politicians for so many years.
The government of Puerto Rico was useless and hopelessly corrupt before the hurricane. Time to dismiss them all and install a military governor and place the 82nd Airborne at Base Ramey, with military police and the Corps of Engineers to manage and improve infrastructure. As a side benefit it will reduce drug smuggling.
Could we sell Puerto Rico to France and get the money from the Louisiana purchase back? With interest, of course.

Puerto Rico would fail any reasonable vetting for statehood. What long term good would they bring to the US?

From a humanitarian perspective I agree, but those officials were elected by the people of Puerto Rico. If they are inept the people have recourse to the ballot box. Trump describes the PR electric “company” as a complete basket case, financially, managerially, and in the quality of so-called “infrastructure” it disposes. Says it wasn’t functional even before the hurricane.

I do not believe for one little second the inflated ‘death figures’ that are now coming out of Puerto Rico.
That many bodies would have been visible & a serious health hazard after the hurricane passed. To suddenly have 10 times the deaths just doesn’t make a lick of sense.
I suspect that those are are ‘among the missing’ are really somewhere in the USA, and are now voting Democrat in November.
