Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski still has not announced her decision about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Murkowski, one of just two pro-abortion Republicans in the Senate, is being lobbied heavily by the abortion industry to oppose Kavanaughs confirmation. With Republicans holding just a narrow 51-49 majority in the Senate, every vote counts.
This week, Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News that she is watching the confirmation hearings and reviewing Kavanaughs writings, speeches and opinions.
Ive been very clear in terms of what my vetting process was going to be, she said Wednesday. So far I havent heard anything that is earthshaking, something that hasnt been out there as a point of discussion before. But I know they really just started questions this morning.
Of her personal meeting with Kavanaugh, Murkowski said this...

She is an idiot and only there because of family ties and the incompetent guy that ran against her.
No, these corrupt families have a stranglehold on the state. Pork wins keep them in office, extorting and building their little empires.
I was in Alaska last week, and there were lots of radio ads trying to get people to call her office to encourage her to vote against confirmation.
We can forfeit Collins and Murkowski, but no one else.
Goodness, we can’t trust the Alaskans either.
I didn’t know Murkeykowski is a single issue voter.
I don’t see either of them not voting to confirm him. Murkowski especially - she represents a Republican state Trump easily carried - it benefits her politically to vote to confirm and certainly doesn’t hurt her.
It also doesn’t harm Collins politically to vote to confirm a Supreme Court justice - she has voted to confirm all of them I believe since she has been in the Senate for every President that has appointed one. Not to mention Trump came close to winning in Maine and even took one of the Electoral votes - first time since 1984 a Republican had gotten an electoral vote from Maine.
Although just the same, losing that Alabama Senate seat because of Sessions being appointed AG and us nominating a horrifically bad candidate is the reason we have to even think about this. Pence had to break ties before when we had 52 seats with them both defecting...but now if they both defect on a party line vote we lose.
Which never occurred. Indeed, Joe Miller wouldn't have had much of a campaign without the NRSC staff and resources helping him the general.
My goodness - you are thinking of Rubio even on a thread like this? Your mental illness in relation to that man continues unabated, I see.
Thank you. Looks like a headline that doesn’t quite match the article. There does not appear to be any reason, at least at this point, to believe she is not going to vote to confirm.
Lisa is a product of the immense welfare and entitlement state that has been created in bush Alaska
Not really - it's the law now. Probably what clinched her vote for the tax reform bill as it was attached to it. Trump "got it for them" by signing the bill she voted to get to his desk. Besides - Dan Sullivan wouldn't deserve that even if Murkowski did.
Murkowski won through a coalition of Dems and GOP-E. The GOP-E will turn on any candidate who dares to primary their designated candidate. They are more vicious than the Dems.
liberal rat posing as a republican
She’s also getting pressure to vote against Kavanaugh from Alaska Native-Americans over climate and fishing rights.
Palin should have stuck out her first term, having a book ghost-written while doing so, so as to pay for the nuisance lawsuits the Dems were bringing against her.
It’s a shame because if she had simply done that and stayed away from the reality TV (no, it’s not the same as what Trump did in reality TV) — and the Senate would likely be her floor today.
Just a shame.
How does Kavanaugh’s nomination play into a debate over fishing rights?
