President Donald Trumps budget chief, Mick Mulvaney, expressed confidence to Republican donors Saturday that the party would overcome a Democratic movement of hate in November, but he acknowledged Republicans could lose races where they have nominated candidates who are not seen as likable enough, like Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

That is why .
Its called psych ops .
“Cruz just isnt likable, no matter how conservative he is. Whether that causes him to lose is another question. I would hope that Texans would overlook any personality defects in favor of policy positions, votes to support the POTUS, to keep a R majority in the Senate.”
Well, that’s precisely how I feel about Trump. I find his personality to often be quite “unlikable” and irritating, but I enthusiastically support him because he has governed as the most conservative president we’ve ever had. I didn’t vote for him to win a personality contest, but to beat back the Dems. Hopefully, Cruz will do his part to do the same thing. I sure hope people in 2020 will overlook Trump’s obnoxiousness and vote for him because of all the good things his policies have achieved for the country.
“I think its a ploy that both Trump and Cruz are in on.”
Apparently Cruz’s opponent is in on it too. I mean what an idiot asks that US flags be taken down at VFW in Texas.
“If he didnt conduct himself the way he did in 2016, “
Like Trump was a saint? But let’s just keep rehashing this to death because the most important thing is to be at each other’s throats while Democrats threaten to turn us into Venezuela.
No one from El Paso has ever won a statewide election, and Beto will not be the first. There's a lot of hate for Ted on these forums, and the haters are rubbing their hands at the prospect of "Lyin' Ted" losing in November.
Ted dominates the vote outside of the big cities, and we like him plenty as our Senator. For example, North Texas/DFW has nearly 7 million population, with Dallas and Fort Worth totaling close to 2 million of that. The suburb and rural vote will swamp those big cities.
Thanks for posting, Teach.
How do you ignore Trump’s behavior toward Cruz, his wife and his father? If they can work with each other, it’s time to us to stop living in their past relationship.
I’m from East Texas and Cruz will win this section of Texas with no problem, Tyler, Longview, Marshall, Texarkana will be in Cruz corner.
True, I live in Tyler and our Congressman we keep electing Louie Gohmert, so you can rest assured Cruz will win here by about 20 points.
I like Trump a lot. President Trump is very entertaining and he keeps his promises. I suspect he is probably fun to be around. I think Ted Cruz acts like a pompous ass and has zero likeability but he is a solid conservative. I will definitely vote for him.
That's pretty much the bottom line.
They were all out of charisma on the day Ted was born, so they gave him an extra helping of smarts.
Cruz should be Trump’s next Supreme Court pick. Then they can find a likeable conservative to replace him in the senate.
It was a private affair. Who leaked this?
As long as Senator Cruz constitutents vote for him and he is on board the America first agenda, what is not to like?
Ted is articulate and an intellectual. He doesn’t play the likability game although he is likable enough. Trump on the other hand is a leader like no other - focused, determined and fearless. They complement each other. Ted would have made a great VP imo had things not turned nasty during the campaign.
I thought the same, but then I keep wondering who would be as strong in the Legislative Branch. Can anyone in Congress match Ted's resume?
(And seriously, how many leaders in Congress are actually likable people? Is ANY major Dem likable? Ryan? McConnell?)
BS. No one on any conservative forum is wishing Ted ill.
People are sharing their honest opinions about the man, and yes, many do hold somewhat negative views of him. It just is what it is.
Ted is the only one who can improve his own public relations. Since the 2016 election, he's done nothing to rebuild his bridges to Texas Trump voters.
Now he finds himself in a race that shouldn't even be close, and he needs the President to pull his fat from the fire. Stop and think of what that says about the guy.
Seems to me that Cruz was a jackass first with the way he acted after losing his bid to be the nominee. Good for Mick for calling him on it.
p.s. I still want Cruz to win but he’d do himself a huge favor by admitting he made a mistake.
...Or we can have Beto and yet another D to work against us.
The shine has dulled on Ted but Ill take him over Beto.
Just win clean. Finesse always gets us in trouble! :-D
