Dallas police and the county district attorney's office are investigating after police said one of their officers shot and killed a 26-year-old man Thursday night upon returning home from her shift and entering the wrong apartment in her building.
Preliminary information suggests the off-duty officer, who has not been publicly identified, was still wearing her police uniform and was returning home after working a full shift, the Dallas Police Department said in a statement Friday.

And then manages to shoot someone?
This isn't going to be good.
She seems to shoot with accuracy even when blind drunk.
Several things had to go wrong for this to happen.
And every one of them are the officers fault.
Just last week a Dallas County jury convicted Officer Roy Oliver for killing Jordan Edwards.
This officer will be convicted as well.
I’ve never accidentally went into the wrong home at night. I’d probably be the one that got shot. Would be a big “oops” moment either way.
Well, let’s hope not since she was just coming off a shift.
Her key was apparently found stuck in the lock.
“after she tried unsuccessfully to open it.”
Then how in the hell did she get in???
If your key doesn’t work, would you not maybe think to look and make sure you’re at the right door??
after she tried unsuccessfully to open it.
Then how in the hell did she get in???
_________
She either broke in, or the guy inside realized she was a cop, and opened the door.
I’m going with the idea that she broke in, because that makes more sense given the shooting. If she broke in, and the guy inside had no idea she was a cop, he’d probably try to defend himself from the break in. Thus, she gets to shoot him for attacking her.
She didn’t even ask, “What are you doing here?”?
The guy didn’t have a gun, obviously. This is the kind of officer that asks for your ID then shoots you when you reach into your pocket.
“If your key doesnt work, would you not maybe think to look and make sure youre at the right door??”
She was apparently yelling “Open up!”...
Maybe she was drunk?
I wonder if she ever actually identified herself as a cop?
It seems like if she ID’s herself, that should end the situation. The person in the apartment would then look through the peephole or a window and see that she is indeed a cop.
So she forced the door to someone else’s apartment and shot the resident. That awfully resembles a burglary that “went wrong.” The nonworking key should have made her step back and study the situation before she broke in. The instant resort to firepower is why women should not be police officers, at least not patrol and responder cops. Maybe she doesn’t do desk work very well.
I have already read people trying to hint that the guy she shot was a not so good guy. Amazing....
She must have been drunk and/or drugged as hell.
...off-duty officer, who has not been publicly identified...
lesser citizens would have been identified and perp walked by now.
And?
Is this the victim?
According to the relative, the police officers key was found in the lock of the door of the apartment belonging to the deceased, after she tried unsuccessfully to open it.
The family member expressed the view that the officer involved in the shooting, who lived in an apartment on another floor of the complex”
Keys in the victims door, and the officer didn’t even live on that FLOOR!
Now the officer is on administrative leave pending and investigation?! If this officer was off duty, why is he/she not being treated as we would be treated? No way any of us get administrative leave from our jobs and avoid a jail cell that night.
Justice for some but not for all....
I wonder if they had some kind of relationship.
