Dallas police say one of their officers was going home after her shift when she walked into the wrong apartment and shot and killed the man inside.
The officer was in full uniform just after 10 p.m. Thursday evening when she walked into an apartment unit she believed to be her own at the 1200 block of South Lamar, about a quarter-mile from the Dallas Police Department.

Every damned time.
“Ripped from the headlines” means that if the actual perp was a minority, it’s automatically changed into a conservative white guy.
It got so bad that I started rooting for the bad guys.
The best one was with the great comedian (and true conservative) Larry Miller, who played a smug killer who got away with it, repeatedly. My hero.
A key will fit one in about 5000 standard pin tumbler locks, even a higher percentage, if the locks are master keyed.
Yes.
Absurd how everyone jumps to conclusions.
Lots of details left out. Going to be a long slow process for more 411, but i tend to agree with your assessment.
Very good reasoning.
That may be a possibility. Still need more detail. Was the door physically open?
Nice to see some reasoned response here.
Surely you forgot the “sarc” tag! If not, what are you thinking?

No kidding. I’ve heard of drunks or drug-addled people going into the wrong house (I actually knew someone who did that and was lucky not to be killed or arrested), but someone who is straight, coming home from work, going to the wrong place? It doesn’t even make sense.
I know where I live. Even when I’ve lived in apartment complexes with lots of similar places, I knew where I lived. Again, this doesn’t make sense.
I say one week suspension and retraining.
Ha ha ha ha ha...
I can’t believe someone actually posted that on this forum of all places.
Just how old are you? How many people who left law enforcement do you even personally know?
I’m not buying it. Was his apartment decorated exactly the same as hers or something? I would think she’d know right away if she was in the wrong apartment. Something else is going on here.
An affirmative action diversity hire.
LOL
Reminds me, when I was a young brat; we were in the living room, watching Ed Sullivan and laughing at some segment or comedian, when all of a sudden, a strange prolonged laugh, came from the back corner of the LR.
We all gasped and turned simultaneously only to see Mrs. Quirk, the elderly mother of a neighbor, from down the road, laughing away, with us, sitting in a chair, in the dark.
Of course, back in the 50s, you didn’t lock your doors. She must have slipped in, without anyone hearing her. Dad ran up to the neighbor’s house and asked if they were *missing* the mom.....they were shocked to find her bedroom empty.
IIRC, the lady had some sort of dementia, probably went with the territory of being around 90 y/o.
My nextdoor neighbor payed us a similar visit.
When off her meds, she did all sorts of just plain screwy stuff. One evening she came in and sat on the couch and watched the news. She had no clue where she was.
We called her son down in Florida and then escorted her home.
Another time she was walking around naked as a jbird. Someone called the sheriff and she ran away. They found her hiding in the cab of a front end loader.
Sounds like a good shoot to me (and every police internal affairs dept in the country) How dare the guy be in his own apartment when the dickless tracy walked in? Manslaughter at the very least and probably 2nd degree murder if it were one of us peons who committed this atrocity
Maybe door wasn't locked
I must be getting *there* myself. These days, I’m recalling stuff from my *yute* ...strange that.
I’ll probably be meeting Joan Lunden soon, and getting my *place-for-mom* assignment.
Where I’m living now, you could walk around neeked and no one, I mean no one, would care.
Vermont has no state law against public nudity. Another thing about Vermont is that there’s no state laws restricting the carrying of firearms, concealed or otherwise.
Therefore, in theory, you could walk down Main Street wearing nothing BUT a pistol in your choice of either a shoulder holster or in a side holster. [Welcome to Brattleboro]
I wonder what the headline would read if the resident had blown her into several pieces with a pump 12 gauge?
Absolutely no way its ever the cops fault.
I see a movie plot there; the man with two guns.
WBAP reported at the bottom hour break that the officer has been arrested...so there’s that FWIW
