Kavanaugh hearing to be cut short, after Schumer blocks GOP request

The Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for Judge Brett Kavanaugh will be cut short Wednesday, after Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., blocked Republican efforts to keep questioning the nominee until late in the day.

Schumer objected to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s request for the committee to continue meeting after 2 p.m., meaning the Supreme Court confirmation hearings could bleed into next week.

The move is the latest clash between the parties in what has been a contentious hearing process.

Trump will cruise to re-election using the Nixon ‘72 strategy.

You may not like me. You may think me a nasty, disagreeable fellow.

But my opposition is bat-poop insane. You really have no choice but to vote for me.

They have to vote Kavanaugh out of Committeeman before the whole Senate can vote on him. I suspect the Dems are trying to come up with SOMETHING that could sink the nomination. And every time I hear ANYONE, including Tucker, complain about Garland being excluded, I want to puke. If the public wanted Merrick Garland on the SCOTUS, they would have voted for Hillary. Period. And it was Biden and Schumer who advocated, back in the 90’s, that no President should be granted any SCOTUS nomination in the year before a PRESIDENTIAL Election. Not ANY election, but a Presidential election. Dems tie themselves in knots trying to change their rhetoric to excuse themselves from their previous opinions.

Yep. And he can hit the ground running. No need to learn the ropes.

The Dems held up Kavanaugh’s confirmation to Appeals Court Judge for 3 years (2003-2006). Why are they being allowed to do this crap gain?

No kidding. I consider Garland payback for Robert Bork.

I wonder how many senators would make it through a confirmation process (circus) like they require of SC nominees? Not many, I’m guessing.

Yup..If they had something damning it would already be out there for a “quick kill”. They have nothing, par usual; except to obstruct.

I just heard that Jon Kyl got sworn in. That will be another vote for Kavanaugh.

I've seen all kinds of speculation about the future of AZ politics, but for the NOW, then this works.

If that's is all he appointment accomplishes, that's good enough for me.

Not quite so....Washington walked into the Senate with Knox, his secretary of war. They had a Treaty in hand.

They requested the advise and consent (blessing) of the senate.

The Senate said woah.....we haven't even seen it. We will need some time to consider it.

Then Washington....furious at the response said...."Then why am I here? And stomped out of the Senate Chamber.

Well of course they didn’t want it to go late. They’d have to pay their protesters overtime.
