Funeral services are not for the benefit of the defunct, who is beyond our praise or condemnation, but for the living, who know before long that they will follow the honored dead into a cold grave.
Senator John McCains funeral was the most ostentatious that Washington has accorded except for a president, and much grander than the 2006 funeral of Gerald Ford, for example. The American Establishment took the opportunity to mourn a world that it imagined but never inhabited.

A room full of hypocrites, lacking both a moral compass and a sense of shame.
Did your read the article? I promise it is worth your time.
The "establishment," to which you refer, are those prominent in a contemporary pursuit of fantasy, which is like nothing so much as that captured by Hans Christian Andersen in his classic fable of the Emperor's New Clothes; unless, perhaps, a gaggle of ostriches, with their heads buried deeply in the sands of self inflicted ignorance.
Video of Trump at the funeral...
Pretty good article. Thanks.
McCain, the establishment, both had funerals...
Adios!
I’m sorry, my statement stands.
The showiness of the funeral is sometimes in inverse proportion to the actual importance of that personage to the sum and flow of history.
John McCain never at any time exerted much power in Washington, except in a negative manner, the power of “No”. Or maybe in deference to McCain’s personality, “Oh, HELL, no!”
By being used as a foil to propel other even more negative views of America, McCain managed to drive down the savings & loan industry in the US (the Keating 5), diminish the power of the First Amendment (the McCain-Feingold campaign “reform” bill), propelling both George W. Bush and later Barack Obama into the Presidency by his own lackluster campaigns each time, never pushing back, and his final apostasy, the failure to repeal Obamacare outright.
There never were “good old days” in the Senate while McCain was there.
‘Trump is hated because the American people elected him to bury the Establishment. Last weekend the Establishment obliged by conducting burial services for itself.’
I wasnt disputing your statement, it was true. I was just wondering if you read the entire article.
Great Article!
He’s six feet under now and will be forgotten in a month....he will not be back....that’s the important thing to remember!!!

WOW Whoever ' "Spengler" is - he 'gets' it... Amazing post. Read the whole thing...
McCain’s funeral further exposed the deep state and their smoke and mirrors ways. The adulations that were spewed for three days were a complete fabrication. The emperor had no clothes, but the deep state wanted the peasants to see a lie.
The New World Order dreams of the Bush family are what the establishment is mourning.
Trump has given the citizens the chance to keep our country that the establishment had tried mightily to deny US.
Our freedoms and sovereignty are what stand in the way of their vision of that New World Order.
If we do not replace all Bush League Republicans, this will be a brief reprieve.
The rant-n-ravers at both funerals somehow managed to nail their own lids shut from inside their own coffins. Thanks GOPJ.
