Shares of Nike Inc fell 3 percent on Tuesday as calls for a boycott of the sportswear giant gained traction on social media following its choice of Colin Kaepernick as a face for the 30th anniversary of its "Just Do It" slogan.
Former San Francisco quarterback Kaepernick, the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem as a protest against racism, posted a black-and-white close-up of himself on Instagram on Monday featuring the Nike logo and "Just do it" slogan, along with the quote: "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything."
Over 30,000 people were tweeting with the hashtag #NikeBoycott on Tuesday morning U.S. eastern time, making it among the top trending topics on Twitter.

LEVI’S JUST JOINED THE BOYCOTT LIST, ANTI-2ND AMENDMENT.
If they were “normal”, i.e. logical, they wouldn’t be progressives.
Don’t own any, don’t make my size except as cartoon kids crap. I own New Balance USA MADE.
Nor do I own Levi’s, Wranglers fit better.
100%!!!
Bigwigs everywhere misread the public. They go with the noise but the noise is not the majority.
Also the job market is for a certain lot and for the norm conservative straight, in upper positions, its still tough.
#Get woke go broke
Your list is out of date. Nike lost Roger Federer to Uni Glo. So the money they saved by not sponsoring an athlete universally admired, they can now spend on an ex-athlete who is reviled by a large number of fans of a sport which is only played in the United States. Those marketing guys at Nike sure know their business....oh wait.
My high school aged son and his friends were all bashing Nike yesterday forwarding memes making fun of the them. Some of the. Ive seen on FR, with the soldiers and caption about sacrifice. These are athletic kids too, so they are definitely a target Nike demographic I would think.
Some of these kids I know are conservatives because of their faith, but a lot are not, they are gaming friends. From what he tells me, they make quite lot of fun of liberals and millennials and how they think. Sometimes he forwards me the memes and they are hilarious.
Anyway, it appears that among his peers this is the popular mindset, and most of them are libertarian-like, and most love trump. So I am cautiously optimistic about 2020 when this new generation votes. Assuming we have the fraud and illegal immigration situation ironed out.
My e-mail to investor relations:
So Nike is seeing the immediate results of virtue signaling as a market strategy. Its all the rage in Corporate America. It used to be called Cutting Off Ones Nose to Spite Ones Face.
I hope the next shareholders meeting has pitchforks and torches, with shareholders demanding the heads of your executive board.
I have a similar experience raising teens. I must say younger guys like Ben Shapiro and Stephen Crowder are resonating with them. It’s rebellious I guess to be a young conservative today. That appeals to them I think. They go to public schools, too. They aren’t falling for this trans crap either...even some of the liberal kids think it’s a crock.
Somewhere on Facebook a genius of a man said something like “The first instance of a company committing shoeicide”.
Maybe on Political Correctness Gone Wild?
LOL!

It is crazy isnt it, to think that back in the day (80s for me) rebellion against mainstream was to be a liberal. Now it is just the opposite. Same here with trans whatever, and climate change especially. After school shootings they talk about the problem of gun free zones, etc. its almost like whatever the mainstream new, or liberal teachers are pushing, they are taking the opposite stance. They just arent buying they hype or cause du jour.
Kaepernick is the perfect spokesman for Nike’s new line of kneepads.
How would anyone apply the term “sacrifice everything” to a guy who never even VOTED before all this nonsense began? LOL.
Can I ask your permission to use this hashtag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram? :-)
Please DO!
I got it from somewhere else, and its AWESOME!
If I recall correctly, when all was said and done, when the dust finally settled, they gained 6% market share. Not bad for a "failed campaign".
Yes. I large number of Americans discovered how silly it is to plan a day around a bunch of morons playing a children's game. Any strike against bread and circuses is a plus in my book.
Remember when Nike used to hire real stars and everyone wanted to roll like him?
