What led the church to where it is today was unspeakable crimes and institutional cover-ups. At a moment when unqualified humility would seem the only possible response available to leaders of the Catholic faith, they instead choose to engage in the scurrilous scapegoating of innocent gay people. They demonstrate an unwillingness to accept full responsibility and a breathtaking absence of decency. Abuse in the church occurred not because of homosexuality but because church leaders created safe spaces for predators. Some of the abusers might have been gay. So what? Psychologists say pedophiles are sexually aroused not by gender but by youth, and homosexuality does not make people more likely to abuse others, as studies have shown. Some of the victims in Pennsylvania were girls.
When priests tell church members that homosexuality is a bar to Heaven, that's ultimately a spiritual matter the faithful must work out for themselves, but when church officials charge that homosexuality causes outrages in communities here on Earth, the discussion becomes a concern for believers and non-believers alike. Whether for spiritual or humane principles, the reaction from within and without the church must be to categorically reject such hateful messages.

Clericalism? That makes no sense at all. If that is the cause, then why don't the afflicted priests demand cash tributes from victims, or jewelry or other gifts or value, or free labor to clean the priests living quarters and prepare meals?
But the clericalism manifests itself as pressure to participate in sexual acts aimed at mostly teenaged boys. Clericalism sounds like a made up concept to divert attention from the most logical explanation.

Of course....”studies”. Certainly peer-reviewed too, by peers who can not and will not ever say that there is anything abnormal about homosexuality.

I think you've got this backwards. Married men can be ordained to the priesthood, but single men, once ordained to the priesthood, cannot marry. There are some instances in the western Church where married men have been ordained, but they are typically men who were already married and had served as ministers in protestant churches.
Which began, ominously in the late 70s, as "Toleration..."

Well that's only partially true......Since heterosexuals outnumber the homosexual population about 44 to 1, as a group the incidence of homosexuals molesting children is up to 40 times greater than heterosexuals.

Homosexuals are attracted to the catholic church because it’s been well known among homosexuals for decades they will be protected and the pickings are plentiful. Their community knows far more than what the laity often is in denial of.
98% of gay men have had sex with a minor. I would say 100%, but there may be one who did not. I have asked many homosexuals about this and not one has ever denied this was true. They excused it away as in, I was young for my age. It was consensual, or I wasn’t his first time. That doesn’t matter, that is how boys are brought into the GBTQ fold. Like being the first thing a baby calf smells after it is born, means it will follow you and identify you as belonging to the animal. A persons first sex experience, will bend their mind and their proclivity for life.
I suspect gay men go into the Priesthood to run away from that “bent”, and some go because of access.
By definition they were. I totally agree, as does logic.
