While speaking at Senator John McCains funeral on Saturday, former President George W. Bush said McCain made me better.

George W. Bush. Where the “W” stands for epic fail.
I think we were had.
This is why I will never go after Trump tooth and nail.
He may not accomplish all he set out to, but he has done plenty by now.
One thing I don’t think he’ll ever be is a globalist. And that being said, I don’t know of one person that I see on the radar that is enough like him to guide the nation properly.
His son may be the one that comes closest. Donald Jr. is a pretty sharp guy, and he is not tied at the hip to politics and the globalists.
Others may know of some holes in his logic, better than I do, so I’ll take that under advisement.
Still we have been had, and it’s time to put that to an end.
We did just that with Trump, but Trump won’t last forever.
I fear what will happen when he’s gone bet it Democrats or Republicans. The leadership of both are suspected criminals.
Although the warning signs were there, it was hard to believe you could have such collusion on a grand scale. It happens in places like Illinois, where both parties are corrupt and elections virtually pre-determined and set.
Doing it on a national scale seems unbelievable, yet again, the red flags are everywhere. Outsiders come in, they either get spit out or assimilated. How many pols have we seen get our hopes up saying they’re going in to fight the system (they may even be telling the truth) only to end up as part of the problem in short order ?
When “Dubya” and the Bushies were more outraged and upset by Trump than they are with corrupt and evil individuals as the Clintons and the Obamas, you know something is terribly, terribly wrong. The 2008 and 2012 elections were the biggest set-up and fix by the Deep State and bipartisan collusion in the history of the United States. The GOP base after 2008 should’ve just gone after and destroyed the collusionists, but they didn’t. They just kept them in charge and returned them to majority power in 2010. That a Deep Stater like Willard could even come within a million miles of a Presidential nomination showed that this party was in deep, deep trouble and profoundly corrupted.
We were all set to see yet another Deep Stater fix for 2016 between the Butcheress of Benghazi and Yeb!, with the latter playing ringer for Hillary (please clap), and we suckers were expected to act as though these were the choices of the people (hell, even the Democrat establishment had to go to corrupt lengths to fix the nomination for Hillary when half or more of the base wanted Bernie). Trump smashed their little fix to pieces, and that was the most grievous, unforgivable sin for which he must be destroyed (and impeached).
I do worry what will happen as we enter the 2020s, who will continue the fight of destroying the Deep State and the bipartisan collusion after Trump has retired or passed on ? We’ll have pols claiming they’ll “carry on” the fight, and most will be lying in order to get power. We probably need to keep looking to outside reformers, because almost anyone from the political class is corrupt. The fight Trump has led will require eternal vigilance for our republic to survive.
Right on every point.
But God . . .
God raised up an imperfect man, Donald Trump, who like Jesus has sacrificed himself and his life for us. NO I’M NOT SAYING TRUMP IS JESUS, it’s a metaphor.
God can raise up someone 180 degrees opposite from Trump in personality, yet still have the same success.
Same here. I worry about that, too.
Tough question, which Bush was worse?
Rubio or Cruz would have won the nomination absent Trump, Jeb was going nowhere.
And that would have been a sure Hillary win.
And that would have been a sure Hillary win.
No father being VP then President, Shrub would never have become Governor then President (or Yeb!).
Roofio would’ve been fine playing designated loser. Cruz, as much as we supported him and would not have played gracious loser, could never have been prepared to face the onslaught as inflicted upon Trump. Nobody but Trump could’ve.
I agree. I don't get this "Trump saved us from Jeb Bush" history revisionism. It wasn't like Jeb! was polling in first place for months, then Trump jumped in the race and narrowly defeated "GOP front runner Jeb" with celebrity star power. The reality is Jeb! never caught fire (both before and after Trump announced his candidacy) and finished in a distant sixth place. He couldn't even come close to competing with Rubio, let alone Trump.
I think the ONLY people excited about Jeb!'s candidacy was the mainstream media. They mistakenly assumed that Bush fatigue was over and that people had a soft spot for Jeb.
I think a strong case can be made that Jr. was worse, if only cause he got an extra term to muck things up in.
MARK SIMONE @MarkSimoneNY
Only one living President attended Billy Graham’s funeral and memorial service. It was President Trump. What does that say about these sanctimonious political creatures? It tells you where the swamp’s heart is - politics before God.
The only way it makes sense is if you believe
A)Trump took a lot of primary votes directly from Jeb
I discount that, I think a lot of Trump voters wouldn’t have voted and that Trump mainly took votes that otherwise would have went to Cruz, Carson, or Christie
B)Trump calling Jeb low energy really hurt Jeb so badly that he leeched a lot of votes
I think not. Fact is even much of the GOP establishment wasn’t keen on Jeb, some of them were trying to draft. As you say his biggest fans were a hostile media that knew he’d make a poor candidate thanks to his brother’s unpopularity.
Trump may well have saved us from Shillery but I see no way Jeb was ever gonna win the nomination.
You know... I used to like that guy.
He just never fails to disappoint, though.
As DoughtyOne said, he played us all for suckers.
“...more outraged and upset by Trump than they are with corrupt and evil individuals as the Clintons and the Obamas, you know something is terribly, terribly wrong...”
Yeah, they really showed their true colors.
Horrible, and hard to believe the depths of it, for sure. But there is no getting around it.
It truly is US (Trump, and the rest of us who put him there) against THEM.
