Democrats on Saturday slammed what they described as a Friday night document massacre after the White House withheld more than 100,000 pages of Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaughs records, citing presidential privilege.
Former President George W. Bushs attorney Bill Burck told the Senate Judiciary Committee in a letter Friday that it has mostly completed its work ahead of next weeks planned confirmation hearing.
Kavanaugh, who has been tapped by President Trump to replace Anthony Kennedy on the nations highest court, served in the White House Counsels office during the Bush administration.
The letter said that Bush told them to proceed expeditiously and to err as much as appropriate on the side of transparency and disclosure, and we believe we have done do. on the side of transparency and disclosure.
But the letter said that the White House and the Department of Justice, conducting its own review of the presidential records, have identified certain documents of the type traditionally protected by constitutional privilege.
