WASHINGTONHigh-stakes trade negotiations between Canada and the U.S. were dramatically upended on Friday morning by inflammatory secret remarks from President Donald Trump, after the remarks were obtained by the Toronto Star.
In remarks Trump wanted to be off the record, Trump told Bloomberg News reporters on Thursday, according to a source, that he is not making any compromises at all in the talks with Canada but that he cannot say this publicly because its going to be so insulting theyre not going to be able to make a deal. In a remark he did not want published, U.S. President Donald Trump said that a possible NAFTA deal with Canada would be totally on our terms, according to a source.
Heres the problem. If I say no the answers no. If I say no, then youre going to put that, and its going to be so insulting theyre not going to be able to make a deal ... I cant kill these people, he said of the Canadian government.
In another remark he did not want published, Trump said, according to the source, that the possible deal with Canada would be totally on our terms. He suggested he was scaring the Canadians into submission by repeatedly threatening to impose tariffs.
Off the record, Canadas working their ass off. And every time we have a problem with a point, I just put up a picture of a Chevrolet Impala, Trump said, according to the source. The Impala is produced at the General Motors plant in Oshawa, Ontario.
Trump made the remarks in an Oval Office interview with Bloomberg. He deemed them off the record, and Bloomberg accepted his request not to reveal them.

I think there is a bigger picture you are not seeing. Trump doesn’t want a deal. This leak was orchestrated to make it virtually impossible for the Canukleheads to sign anything. He wants the auto biz back.
Off the record really means Trump never said this we made it all up.
Personally, when I do not refer to our PM as ‘Dustbin Turd-owe’ or ‘Dustbunny Turd-owe’, I often refer to him as ‘the little boy in d’Ottawa’ or sometimes, ‘Pierre Pan’ (rather than Peter Pan). He was a trust fund baby, never having had to work to live. Like Peter Pan, he never grew up.
The thing about Bloomberg is they are 100% as virulently anti-Trump as CNN. I love their business reporting and like most of their weekend programming, but they stumble all over themselves not being as overtly anti-Trump as CNN while simply gushing with hatred for him.

I think this was orchestrated. Yesterday Canada must have been willing to wave the white flag. Today they will lose so much face if they do. Trump doesn’t want a deal. He wants our auto plants back.
‘people-child’
I seriously doubt Trump would tell THE MEDIA anything ‘in confidence’.
Turd-owe is as popular as poison ivy in a nudist colony in most of the country. The Tranna Red Star is a Lieberal Party propaganda organ, a la Der Stürmer. The only POSSIBLE chance of his being re-elected is if he can convince the electorate that Kanaduh’s economic problems are all the fault of that mean nasty Donald Trump! Turd-owe cares nothing about Kanadians, only about re-election.
The question is are my fellow Kanadians smart enough to see through Turd-owe’s and the Tranna Red Star’s BS? That remains to be seen!
US Dollars for the “Canadian Ballet” are going to go much farther.
The Star? Fake News of Canada, lower
than NYDN\NYT
My first thought exactly. How the hell are POTUS’ alleged remarks insulting? And does anyone really believe that Trump made those remarks (if indeed he did) not knowing that there’s no such thing as “off the record”?
Walk through the Toronto downtown financial district and look at all the American banks there...oh wait; there aren’t any. Try to buy some property in Canada as an American. See how that goes. Or try to buy mineral or timber rights. Yes, they do allow American corporations to do business there. Ford has (or had) a number of manufacturing plants in Canada (although the 351 Cleveland was a much better engine than the 351 Windsor).
Of course, I can understand why the Canadians have these restrictions. If they didn’t, we would have economically gobbled them up years ago. But the point is that an American business has far more impediments about doing business in Canada than the other way around.
If anybody believes this Bloomberg reporter was anything but baited by Trump into publishing “off the record” remarks after all the leaks and wacky media behavior for going on three years now, well, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
The sure went to a lot of trouble in this article to make Anonymous source sound like some thing else. Any one with an IQ can understand that is just another “anonymous source” article. Funny how no on in the deep state MSM is able to put anyone on the line for the narratives that they spew in their articles.
I’m guessing Christopher Steele is the source...
Ya know, for a man who is so smart and wary of the press....” off the record, Trump told Bloomberg News reporters on Thursday, according to a source”.......this just doesn’t make sense period!
