Just checking the thread - WOW 223 comments!!!!
You done good Fatima;)
It’s now 224 ha ha!
This was probably already posted, but, since I didn’t scour the thread carefully, I’m going to post it anyway (again?) because I love it.
Manhattan Transfer’s “Candy”

I loved this song so much when I was a teen, I was ready to change my name to Sandy. ;) My friends thought I was crazy since Ritchie Valens had made my name famous, but I liked this one better.
Back later ... ;-) Thanks
I'm archiving the thread now ...
Dean Martin’s “Memories are Made of This”

Who needs Bobby Goldsboro when there’s the über stunning Glen Campbell?

Is that you, Donna?
Thanks for the back story.
Great choice! Natalie Merchant is one of the most instantly-recognizable voices ever.
I was hooked first time I heard her belt out “Don’t Talk”.
Bump
And I bet the censors listened to that "Laundromat Blues" a time or two back then! (Don't even mention her "spin cycle"!)
The closest I can come to a washing machine song is "Leader Of The Laundromat" by The Detergents, or the very distant cousins, "A Washer Woman's Blues", by Bessie Smith, and "Irish Washerwoman" by Pa's Fiddle Band.
Now, to get back on track for this thread -- the theme of the Harlem Globetrotters, "Sweet Georgia Brown" by Brother Bones.
I love the Cowboy Junkies
and their cover of Sweet Jane is extraordinary.
I certainly remember that one. We got the disc when it came out, and I still have it.
:)
I’m late to the party once again but, Iggy Pop, “Candy” was my first thought.
Second thought?
“I’ll give you Fish”
“I’ll give you Candy”
or
Give me back my man; B-52’s
Which ties in nicely with your link.
