In my hometown they put those windmills up on our beautiful mountains......the people who live up there hate the sound they create and also very true these are killing birds. Did you ever see one catch fire?.....Terrible explosion and they fall. The things are gigantic, most people don’t realize how big they are.I've seen them when driving out I-10 (I think) in the CA desert -- never saw one catch fire, though, but I bet it's spectacular. You're right, they're huge. Saw a TV commercial recently with a guy standing up on the motor part of one -- he looked like an ant in comparison. Also seen blades being hauled on the flatbed of a semi trailer. Seemed like they took up the whole length of the bed and then some.
