WSJ: Five Republican Senators Met With Sessions, Urged Him Not to Quit

Five Republican senators had breakfast with Attorney General Jeff Sessions last week and encouraged him to not resign despite constant pressure from President Donald Trump.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Sessions invited Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Jerry Moran of Kansas, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and John Kennedy of Louisiana to dine with him last Thursday morning at the Department of Justice. The meeting took place in Sessions' dining room and included a lengthy discussion about Trump's repeated attacks on him.

The senators, according to the Journal, urged Sessions to keep doing what he's been doing and stay on the job, at least through the November midterms.

Sessions said he is growing tired of Trump berating him over the Russia investigation, from which Sessions recused himself because he played a role on the Trump campaign. Trump has not let up on that point for a year-and-a-half.

Disagree...the insurance policy in the emails referred to the dossier. IMO Sessions was elected or volunteered to be the ultimate insider and vociferously support Trump from the get-go. Considering his GOPe credentials it is unlikely that he would not despise Trump as much as any other Deep Stater! there is no evidence that shows me otherwise!

...he has defended the ability of the NSA and other federal agencies to spy on Americans.

He always looks off... he’s either not sharp or hes slower than slow. He’s also short. . smaller than some. I have sons who are all over 6 ft.. one is 6’ 6”, and it is said that height works for men... it does. Kids looks up to them and bullies don’t tend to pick on height.

Not to lessen men who are not tall, for I know it’s in the genes.. we are who we are... but sessions is indeed a small man. Strange, we tend to overlook things when we like a person, and pick on everything when we don’t like someone. I think sessions has done damage to our President and to our country, and his legacy is dead.

Sessions said he is growing tired of Trump berating him over the Russia investigation. Not near as tried we are of do nothing sessions. What has the Manafort and Cohen case have to do with Russia nothing. The president is tired of Sessions letting the real crooks in the FBI, DOJ, Clinton campaign walk around free with no investigation. We need a real AG not one that recused himself from everything so Rosenstein can run the DOJ.

...Rosenstein’s top secret scope documents limit Mueller to investigations of the Trump team, not Hillary, Ohr etc. I suppose that’s one reason they are top secret. RR doesn’t want the public to know how politically one sided the Mueller project was defined to be.

There really was a coup going on... and our 'news' organizations totally missed it. History will NOT be kind to today's 'press'.

The fact that sessions invited these 5 gop e dirtbags is proof that there is no theatre between trump and sessions. It is exactly what it appears to be.

I’m really surprised by Kennedy.

Was he channeling Dead Ted, the Lyin’ of the Senate?

Ben sASSe HOLE needs to be primaried.

Opportunistic, duplicitous prick that he truly is.
Funny how, when he was director of the Congressional Page program, the buck-toothed weasel had no problem covering for Denny Hasstert’s diddling of boy pages.

We need term limits on the Senate side of things at a bare minimum.. First. Then the House. The House is pretty much self flushing. The Senate not so.

“Can’t help but think that the Trump/Sessions ‘rift’ is a ruse.”

A close friend has contended this since day one. OUR President’s ability to stay 2 steps ahead of his detractors is the only reason I can’t dispel his hypothesis.

These Senators have told The Keebler Elf to stay on, to keep at what he’s doing??? What is he doing??? Someone had mentioned that behind the scenes he is preparing indictments and subpoenas and what ever because he was a super duper AG from Alabama... I sure hope so, because We The People have had about enough of him hiding behind this recusal nonsense.

The fact that one of the biggest NeverTrumper’s of ALL TIME, Ben ASSe, was invited to this RINO fest says it all.

“...at least before the mid-terms...”

What a ringing endorsement. No one is saying get rid of him before the mid-terms.

Just like a politician to propose a remedy to a problem which isn’t there.

In your dreams.

How much better off we would be if government employees really did sit on their asses and do nothing all day?

How much damage would have been avoided?
