John McCain, the longtime senator and 2008 GOP presidential candidate who refused to leave fellow prisoners of war behind to escape years of torture in Vietnam, and whose maverick streak as Arizonas senior statesman at times frustrated fellow Republicans and confounded President Donald Trump, has died, his family confirmed in a statement Saturday.
He was 81and had been diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2017.
McCain had decided to discontinue medical treatment for the glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, his family announced on Aug. 24. He had surpassed expectations for his survival, but "the progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict," the statement said.

Thanks for mentioning the Forrestal. I have watched the flight deck video many times, the 1st time in boot camp. I never understood how it was possible for McCain to set that off given the position of the aircraft on the deck. I see people male this claim all the time, but without any detail of the event as it relates to the actual footage.
There are plenty of criticisms to levy at McCain, I’d avoid that one.
What a photo. Thank you for posting. Speaks directly to a posting reference made on another “hero” thread for this joker. which I post here, and will expand/clarify below it:
“Dont see how any of his service was a heros action. There are many many more real heroes from that War.
But then, war time and civilian affiliation with 3 different McCains clarified what he was to our extended family. The information is freely available in first hand accounts-to include his behaviour at Annapolis & bottom ranking (drunkenness, violence, admiral’s brat behaviour, poor command qualities). His war record, many crashes, and incompetence. Abuse heaped on Vietnam vets by the lib press added to all this, made it easy. All covered up diligently by his later PR machine.
So, he was a Senator. And a creator/founder of ISIS, an enabler of ISIS, who would not listen to the escapees from Iraq/Syria and their true stories of the vicious actions and politics of these thugs— who were not “moderates” but actual al-Qaeda leadership, in Syria, and whom this tool went and met in person with (later horrific photos of their actions- postitively ID’d). It did not fit the gunrunning cartel fake narrative he shared with the clintoonian/obamaumao Benghazi liars and thieves. And THAT is the truth.
Terrible legacy, to have a get out of jail card- your cleared- for Keating 5 be used as the sword of Damocles that motivated him to cross the aisle and be a maverick. When what he was inside the Boys Club was... a Tool for dem liberal mil-industrial grifters perpetuating a war. All a charade.
Speak truth. He flew planes, got out of a lot of due diligence in flight training because of who were his kin. Now we can move on, under better examination of our warriors and protection of their true skills to defeat our enemies, not to parlez with them.”-— end quote.
Foot note, and reference: McCain broke his arms when ejecting- something that training repeatedly showed pilots how NOT to do. This is known to survivor pilots of that era and from that aircraft. The radio last 12 hours has said” he was tortured for 5 years”.... Nooo, that would not be possible since he would have returned a gibbering mess. Once they knew who McCain’s daddy was— it was full on manipulation by Soviet advised VC interrogators and propagandists. It was and is grossly unfair to accuse a POW of “giving in” to torture— torture creates this response, and unless one were to die, they spill.
What is reprehensible is the cooperation and statements that came out. There are a lot of facts out on this.
Being from US Navy heritage—from before WWII, will leave it there. There is appalling “washing” going on, especially by the “crossover” repubs in name only (mil-industrial beltway bandit types and of course never trumpers) and the lib dems looking for a replacement (eyes set on McRomney fairly certain). The Keating 5 “cover up” was the leverage dems had on him.... for life. That is a fact, and a very human thing for someone to do, not good, but human.
To this day, still wonder if he was spirited to experts at the Lubyanka— to program him, per his own biases and upbringing- to actuate their kompromat. Never forgetting his usefulness in the “dossier” “validation” to the FBI... the rubber stamp, so to speak. More from Brennan on this... soon.

One of her liberal gal pals called and was also lamenting the late Juan McQueeg.
Found these sentiments today.....
Had his staffer submit the Russian Dossier to the FBI
Arizona Senator that was against securing our border
Voted Against repealing Obamacare
Badmouthed Sarah Palin after the election saying she was the reason they lost
Met with Obama’s IRS Lois Learner and told them to go after the Tea Party with all they had
Went to Syria and Met with Al Quaida Leaders To Fund their takeover of Syria
Chair of the Armed Services Committee in the Senate for decades... He Failed to protect our Vets as they died by the hundreds of thousands in our vet hospitals (more died at home than died in action)
Lost to Obama
Sponsored the CREST Act 100Billion To hide 5000 illegal aliens from ICE Border Patrol and not tell Americans that their new neighbor was an Illegal with criminal ties.
Allowed taking $1.3B from our troop medical co-pay benefits to fund bringing Afghanistans into the USA
Conspired with John Kerry to block the investigation and recovery of Vietnam POWs
Promoted law to close the gun show loophole even though there isn’t one.
The VA Hospital scandal originated in his home state of Arizona
Denounced Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell as “agents of intolerance.” to gain favor during his run for President
Helping to write the “Gang of Eight” bill that would have provided a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants. Passed in the Senate... Failed in the House
In the 1980s he vacationed in the Bahamas with savings-and-loan tycoon Charles Keating, his buddy, who he defended and the scandal ended up costing $3.4 billion to the federal government
He voted against President George W. Bush’s sweeping tax relief package in 2001
..John Mccain not only betrayed his voters by voting against the Obamacare repeal in the 11th hour.
He also was complicit in many back room deals that betrayed his voters. We don’t even have to get into his terrible disgraceful military career (sorry Mccain lovers he was bad and should have been drummed out starting the U.S.S forestall on fire and all. It pays to have an Admiral for a daddy.)
He also helped Robert Mueller, Hillary Clinton, Bob Corker ,and Dick Durbin cover up the Obama approved transfer our critical Uranium stockpiles to Russia as is clearly documented in the Hillary Clinton email leaks that have never been refuted or dis-proven and have been admitted to be true.
And this happened back in 2010 During Obama’s first turn. Mccain was never a republican or conservative he was always a fucking phony ass cuck.
Mccain was also deep in bed with this ongoing anti Trump Coup actively working to get the fake piss dossier into circulation sending his own aide to go pick it up from the U.K. and give it to the F.B.I.
Do a search of his name on Wikileaks and you will find diplomatic cables that were released allegedly by Manning of all people that John McCain was killed during the Vietnam war about 10 years before his father died. Interesting stuff there.
Either way Now Arizonans have the chance to actually have their voice heard and themselves represented again.
Sorry I dont utilize vile commentary for someone that has died just because I may not agree with them politically. We dont even know the guy. Denigrating a person who has died is the lowest one can stoop unless that person is convicted of heinous crimes. We are supposed to be better than our liberal counterparts in class and intellect but apparently not so much
I hear you, Lady! We’re all fed up and won’t take it anymore!
Yes, just heard he will
lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda. This will be a great week for me to binge watch some of my old faves on Netflix...”’allo..’allo”, “Midsomer Murders”, and “Call the Midwife”!
This should be that traitor’s eulogy!
I see nothing good in McCain’s life to celebrate, instead, I see a long list of reasons to celebrate his death. It’s unfortunate that his fellow corrupt democrats are not with him today.
*Mosby is still the man.
I agree with most of what you wrote, but I disagree with this part:
“Hero was he? I feel bad for the torture he endured (of his own choosing because he refused to be released for silly macho reasons) but the word is cheapened when ascribed to those who havent done anything heroic. What heroic feats did he perform?”
The North Vietnamese offered to release him because his father was an admiral, but McCain knew that the Commies (both in Vietnam and America) would use that for propaganda purposes, and he refused to be released without his fellow American POWs. That isn’t “silly machismo,” and I would describe his actions in the Hanoi Hilton as heroic.
I think this notion that he was doing the “honorable” thing by “not allowing himself to be used for propaganda” might itself be outmoded machismo. We have the benefit of hindsight of course but does the decision hold up to critical thinking? Was avoiding a hit to morale worth his life?
Did any good come of his remaining? He lifted the spirits of a couple of other POWS, that’s all I can think of. Was that worth risking his life and his sanity?
He could have done more good if he was free, he could inform about the conditions in the prison, he could tell loved ones of fellow POWs that they were still alive and if recovered sufficiently he could have gotten back in a plane and killed some commies!
He ended up singing a “confession” under torture, a very foreseeable consequence of remaining, was that less a propaganda coup for the commies than his release would have been?
It seems to me that he suffered permanent physical (and mental) injury for nothing. Tragic, but heroic?
I don’t see why they didn’t drag him out and dump him in South Vietnam, you hardly need a prisoners’ consent to do that. Would he have have walked back over the border to be recaptured? They could always claim he consented to the release and plenty would have believed it even over his objections.
I heard Obama will eulogize and The Pres is not welcome. It is OK if he doent Want DJT there, ok for W to give a eulogy, but why does that narcissistic treasonous Marxist giving a eulogy?
On the radio tonight host Bill Cunningham noted that the MSM is using McCain’s death against President Trump. Shame on them.
I certainly hope that Obama and W Bush and any other eulogizers keep to the high ground at the funeral and understand that “anything they say will be used against Trump”.
I don’t remember the last time I have been so.....introspective.
Robert how long the media will dwell until they find the next leading story to keep in the headlines.
I do have serious concerns re: the appointment and the timing with the primary. It would be so much easier if PDJT had a more clearly defined group of solids on the hill to assist the rebuild.
2029 wil come too soon for any of us.
Absolutely. Schumer, Obama, etc. It'll be another Wellstone funeral. The Left hated McCain, now they're giving him a week-long tribute & memorial, funeral, 24/7 news media coverage, etc., fitting for a dead POTUS. This is being done BECAUSE McCAIN HATED TRUMP AND THEY ALL HATE TRUMP. Period.
I wouldn't be surprised if McCain let that be known in his funeral plans -- bash Trump as hard as you can in during my Funeral Week...
McCain died as a thin skinned Republican elitist, doing bitter things to President Donald Trump who is a great man elected for and by the People. McCain was Obama’s dimmi , doing Obama’s bidding to support the jihad and ISIS.Obama used McCain like a common street whore who was left giggling because she had a few extra campaign bucks in her purse. McCain clad himself in the our flag to actually betray our country. And IMHO McCain knew exactly what Obama was using him for.
McCain was a decent enough politician until he lost the 2002 GOP presidential nomination to GW Bush. After that he was incredibly bitter. That is when he should have retired in 2002 because subsequently he was an agent provocateur to the GOP and actually sometimes engaged in treasonous activity internationally. He was strangely quiet on the Benghazi fiasco, when he could have led the charge.
One lurid example of McCain’s treasonous conduct was the bogus arms deal he brokered in Syria with the Magic Negro’s help, about 500 million dollars of small arms to a Syrian group of rebels of about 12 men who McCain had met for a photo op.The arms were sold on the black market in Syria as fast as they arrived, to ISIS and the Jihad, later to be used against our US soldiers and allies. The arms dealers in McCains pocket tickled his scrotum on that one, and McCain once again became Obama’s dimmi. Most Americans do not even know about this fiasco or the methods Obama used to support the jihad instead of fighting it.Obama used McCain to actually support ISIS.

McCain did little or nothing to help the cause against liberal fascism ,promoted and implemented by Obama.McCain could have been heroic in 2008 campaign but he fizzled, his powder wet instead of dry. Therefore the left now cynically lauds Senator McCains life, the way that Muslims laud their dimmis.
This article by Laz shows a genuinely true picture of McCain:
