Because Sessions ‘never took over’ Justice Dept., Trump says he will ORDER docs be given to Congress

It’s about time.

Shortly after POTUS Donald Trump was inaugurated, his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, foolishly recused himself from the “Russian collusion” investigation, leaving the Obama Deep State free to undermine the president at every turn.

Sessions’ recusal left Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein in charge of the bogus “Russia” probe, leaving him free to appoint Robert Mueller as special counsel despite the fact that no crime by the Trump campaign had been alleged and no intelligence pointed to Russian collusion.

Now, finally, after nearly two years of Justice Department undermining and stonewalling legitimate congressional and other investigative attempts to get to the bottom of a multitude of Obama-era scandals (Spygate being the biggest, and the FBI’s pathetic ‘investigation’ into Hillary’s mishandling of classified emails being another) POTUS Trump is prepared to bypass Sessions and order the DoJ to comply with all congressional requests for documents.

I don’t think anything will change. DOJ will continue to stonewall

Technically, if Trump does this, he isn't bypassing Sessions. Sessions is recused, already bypassed (and I think properly recused).

The problem children here are Rosenstein and Wray, who put the institutions above bedrock principle. And since Wray reports to Rosenstein, the buck stops at Rosenstein just before it gets to Trump.

Saw your title and popped over to Twitter to see if Trump had Tweeted. he has 53 million followers and 47 people following him???

I chose another person with 373K followers and they had almost 10K following. Twitter is messing with the president.

What most people may not realize is that the office of the Deputy Attorney General was never established by Congress. It was established through an internal directive of the U.S. Attorney General in 1950. Much of the DOJ operates this way: under executive management rather than Congressional oversight.

Here's my outlandish prediction, folks:

If the DOJ doesn't get its act together, we're going to see an executive order from President Trump that decimates the agency, eliminates a whole boatload of senior positions, and leaves the senior ranks of the agency looking like a plate of scrambled eggs.

You heard it here first.

Trump says he will ORDER docs be given to Congress

...or what? Will he order the US Marshals to raid the DoJ...the military? I'm not being flippant. Those at State and Justice are dug in...and I'm sick and tired of hearing about the rank and file who want to see "justice" done. They are mythical.

Fight Fire with Fire.

Jeff Sessions has got to be one of the lamest AGs ever.

You misunderstand the twirrrrter stats.

Trump is following 47. To me, that is quite a few people to follow. Somebody who is following 10K people isn't reading much of what those 10K people post.

Trump can either wait for Congress to clear him in about ten years and allow the wait to consign him to destruction, or he can release the documents and behead the Mueller investigation before the election.

It should be obvious to anyone that the DOJ and Congress are not going to act decisively. Never. Ever.

Obama’s people controlling the DOJ will stall and destroy evidence.

Maybe not originally established. Congress appears to have caught up, because the requirement for senate approval arises under statute, 28 USC 504 - DAG

Sessions was looking for a "position" where he could do what he did as senator - BASICALLY NOTHING!, draw a salary, and have a fancy [swamp] title.

Couldn’t be any worse than the Obama Dept of Justice that we have now.

Trump has made his threat. When will he act on it? Who knows? Might be the bomb he drops a month before midterms or he might do it after. If Dems win the House Trump can drop all his bombs and pardons such as for Paul Manafort, because Dems will impeach him (or try to) anyway. But Senate will never convict. This takes 67 Senate votes.

Sounds like the entire DOJ needs a good housecleaning.

Sessions has been a huge disappointment.

That’s right Rosenweasel is the lynch pin. Nothing good happens while that evil prick is the gatekeeper. There is more then enough cause to replace him with a white hat interim which breaks Mueller’s back. Don’t fire RR just re-assign him “pending a review of his shenanigans”. If Trump wants to survive that punk must be removed.

Right. Note the operative term MAY in that statute. Congress simply codified the status of the Deputy AG as a post that requires Senate confirmation.

That was really a formality anyway. If the 93 U.S. Attorneys require Senate confirmation and the Deputy AG is higher in the organization than they are, then clearly the Deputy AG would be considered a "principal office" under the U.S. Constitution that requires Senate confirmation.

Trump knows this which is why this is a show.

Wray is not the problem since he reports to Rosenstein and must do as he says.

This misdirection and Trump's public anger against Sessions only leaves Sessions backed by Dems when these documents are dropped. Trump gets even with enemies which Dems and the deep state made themselves out to be....all this dirt is going to drop in time for the elections, right on schedule. Sessions will have been publicly defended by Dems on tv over and over with plenty of tape to rerun.
