New Study: 17.25 million concealed handgun permits, biggest increases for women and minorities
Crime Prevention Research Center ^ | August 17, 2018

Despite the expectations of many after the 2016 elections, the number of concealed handgun permits has again increased. In 2018, the number of concealed handgun permits soared to over 17.25 million - a 273% increase since 2007. 7.14% of American adults have permits. Unlike surveys that may be affected by people’s unwillingness to answer some personal questions, concealed handgun permit data is the only really "hard data" that we have on gun ownership across the United States. Still, an even larger number of people carry because in 14 states people don’t need a permit to carry in all or virtually all those states.

Among the findings of our report:

The report is available to be downloaded here.

I want to tell the snowflakes what they always tell me: “If you don’t like guns, don’t own or handle one.”

And this is just permit holders. In Texas you can carry in your vehicle without a permit.

100% of adults not in custody for criminal/psychological investigation/evaluation/confinement have the RKBA, no additional “permit” required. The Constitution merely recognizes that right and orders that it shall not be infringed.

The only question is, does the government you serve* follow The Law?

*I use this wording to provoke a visceral reaction followed by thought.

For perspective, this is comparable to the 19.8 million total active military personnnel GLOBALLY and is larger than any country's total military personnel total (including reservists) per Wikipedia.

Why did people expect the number of CCW permits to decline after the election?

“...not in custody for criminal/psychological investigation/evaluation/confinement have the RKBA...”

Implying those in custody for criminal/psychological investigation/evaluation/confinement do not have the RKBA.

For the edification of everybody, please explain how that’s not a violation of “shall not be infringed”.

We can be deprived of life, liberty, and property in the operation of due process. Somewhere between the street and the penitentiary, usually concurrent with the arrest, comes lawful disarmament— which ought not be permanent! Upon release from custody, particularly after full completion of a sentence, the right to library AND RKBA should be restored without exception.

It has long been accepted that children and insane persons are incapable of such rights as well, though perhaps Mr. Hinckley would like to see that reversed.

Why did people expect the number of CCW permits to decline after the election?

Probably it was only the Media that thought that way and now they are trying hide their false claim by saying it was made by "the people".
