As Texas Democrats attempt to win a major statewide contest for the first time in almost three decades, a new NBC News/Marist poll finds Democrat Beto O’Rourke trailing Republican Sen. Ted Cruz by just 4 percentage points.
O’Rourke, a congressman from El Paso who has ignited Democratic hopes with his impressive fundraising, has 45 percent support among registered voters compared with Cruz’s 49 percent. Six percent of voters remain undecided.

The senate race in Texas is close? Sure, and I’m the King of England. Sounds like 2016 all over again, until actual votes were cast.
Use of a Registered Voters poll indicates that “Likely Voters” numbers don’t support the horserace storyline they want to push.

At minimum I would add the 6% undecided to Sen. Cruz.
“. . . registered voters . . .” That can explain why it is very close.
Cruz will win by 10+.
If you're side is ahead or really is close, you fake the poll to look like there's no chance for the other guy so his side doesn't show up.
Second one is what they did for Hillary, first one is this one.
Since most (public i.e. PR) polls are paid for by Dems, the 'your' side is the dem side in both cases above.

Cruz has never taken ownership of the hysterical Never Trumper “resistance” that his campaign gave birth to. A lot of Trump supporters are still lukewarm to him. He’s been MIA most of the past two years in DC instead of being a powerful ally of POTUS. That is his choice and now he is paying the price for it.
