SÖLVESBORG, Sweden Around 4,000 far-right supporters gathered on the grounds of a ruined castle last weekend to plot the downfall of the socialist ideas that have come to define their progressive country.
Their views anti-immigration, anti-establishment and often anti-Muslim are not new amid the populist tsunami that's crashed into much of the West.
But this is Sweden, where socialists have won every election for the past 101 years, making the Nordic nation something of a lodestar for leftists around the world.
Some polls predict that the supporters' favored party, the Sweden Democrats, with roots in neo-Nazism and white nationalism, will win as much as 25 percent of the vote in an election scheduled for Sept. 9. Such a result would likely earn them a majority of seats in Parliament.
At the party's annual summer festival here, speeches were interspersed with heavy metal music as supporters gathered at Sölvesborg Castle for the headline act: an address by Jimmie Åkesson, the 39-year-old leader of the Sweden Democrats.

That's just how suicidal the international left is.
The problem with socialism, sooner or later, you run out of other peoples money....
But-—dummycrats——socialism-—— I guess those in the EU(yewwwww) have a different daffynition? Why don’t they just call it a day and let the EU(yewwwwww) commission be in charge of everything like they want? Just a step closer to a One Europe Govt. Leading to a OWG/NWO run by the u.n. You’ll like it. No, really you will.
What a hit piece by NBC.
Accepts leftist assumptions about reality. Dismisses Conservative critics as unscientific.
An enormous amount of selection bias.
They must be scared if they need to drag NBC into the fray.
Next....I suspect the Pope and Obama to start yacking
Notice: no mention of the dozens of coordinated car burnings by Muslim “youth”, just a few days ago.
Hmm...in the article the Sweden Democrats are called “far-right”. But the socialists aren’t called “far-left”. I guess that for NBC news, a socialist is a centrist.
Yep...As far as NBC and the rest of Fake News is concerned, if you’re not a socialist you’re FAR right.
Interesting that they refer to the Sweden Democrats as neo-national Socialists - for what is the Scandinavian system so admired in the West but National Socialism?
Far-right is how anyone who wants to keep their country is characterized.
Happens here every day.
Bush League Republicans call us nativists, xenophobes and much worse.
I love telling liberals that they can have socialized medicine (as an example) or diversity, but they can’t have both. Of course socialized medicine will eventually fall in on itself, but homogeneous populations with a high degree of trust made it last a lot longer in Western Europe (not to mention Israel and Japan) than I would have predicted. It will all come crashing down really fast wherever diversity is implemented.
While it is true that the Swedish Democrats do have Nazi roots it’s also true that the party has made a concerted and largely successful effort to purge that element. Douglas Murray has written a great deal about this.
Milton Friedman wrote decades ago that you can have a welfare state or you can have open borders but you can’t have both.
My guess is that Sweden is about to be given a lesson in vote fraud, Chicago style.
“My guess is that Sweden is about to be given a lesson in vote fraud, Chicago style.”
My guess is that Sweden will only survive if they take a lesson the the POLES ! NO Muzzys !
Notice how in the LSM, conservatives are always tagged as the “far right” while you never see “far left” used for the other side.
They arent, far right
It seems so obvious, even a child should be able to see the incentives.
“Far right” - the Left’s label of everyone who is not them.
