More than 300 news publications across the country are joining together to defend the role of a free press and denounce President Trump's ongoing attacks on the news media in coordinated editorials publishing Thursday, according a tally by The Boston Globe.
The project was spearheaded by editorial staff at the Globe, who write, "This relentless assault on the free press has dangerous consequences. We asked editorial boards from around the country liberal and conservative, large and small to join us today to address this fundamental threat in their own words."
Editorials are typically written by opinion writers and are considered separate from organizations' news coverage. NPR, for example, has a separate "opinion" category.

Wouldn't it be neat if there WAS a free press? You know, one not in complete lockstep to nutjob leftism?
Whats a newspaper?
They reside with buggy whips and comet pills.
... Although I like ‘Magpie Press!’
People read and comment on them online. They cleverly mix them in among their news articles, it’s not a dedicated page of the newspaper anymore. Have to look really close sometimes to find the word “editorial” or “opinion”.
Bwaaa Ha Ha!
Greek Chorus is actually closer to it. ;-)

Yes, but the current culture does not know what a Greek Chorus is...
But they still know what an echo is...
so the leftist totalitarian press is now known today as

And I think carrying coals to Newcastle is going to do jack **** for ad rates.
They are NOT defending the Free Press.
They are defending what they see as their “right” to lie and spin news to fit an agenda without being called out on it.
This is going to backfire — big time.
What’s a newspaper?
More proof that they are wrong. Unless some of them go to jail for this it seems like our press is allowed to say whatever they want about the government and the president.
Do that have any complaints beyond the president saying mean things about them on twitter and in rallies? Any visits from the FBI? Wiretaps? Arrests? Has any editor even said “we can’t say that about Trump because he’ll be mean to us?” Or do they publish whatever they want whenever they want? Are they able to communicate and coordinate attacks? Any forms of a crackdown on what they write or say?
Seems like the better approach would be to prove Trump wrong when he says “fake news” rather than whine about hurt feelings. His statements would not cause them to lose viewers and readers if he is wrong.
The Boston Globe. What a joke. They are literally owned by the Red Sox.
Translation; the only people reading them are people who go to the sports page.
Good Laz, and wouldn’t you bet that 90% of the stories printed this day are manufactured by the AP and Reuters — the newspaper story collusion machine.
Wikipedia: Newspaper endorsements in the United States presidential election, 2016
Media journalist Jim Rutenberg writes that endorsements in the 2016 presidential election are distinguished by “blunt condemnation” of the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and by a “save the Republic” tone.
Trump received endorsements from only 20 daily newspapers and six weekly newspapers nationwide, of which only two, the Las Vegas Review-Journal and the (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union, had circulations of above 100,000. The small number of endorsements received by Trump was unprecedented in American history for a candidate from a major party...
Many newspapers that endorsed Clinton encouraged readers to vote for her primarily, if not solely, to prevent Trump from being elected president...
Summary of daily newspapers
Hillary Clinton endorsements: 243
Donald Trump endorsements: 20
2012:
99 Barack Obama; 47 Mitt Romney; 19 No endorsement; 1 Split endorsement; 76 Undetermined

bury the FakeNewsMSM.
Our problem though is that while the American people hardly buy newspapers any more, they are still influenced by the liberalism of the press.
Sounds like conspiracy and collusion..

that is exactly why they need to be laughed at and marginalized
Remember to Alinsky them back:
Saul Alinskys Rules from Rules for Radicals
Saul Alinsky describes 24 rules in Rules for Radicals. Of those 24 rules, 13 are rules of power tactics:
1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy
thinks you have.
2. Never go outside the experience of your people.
3. Wherever possible go outside of the experience of the
enemy.
4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.
5. Ridicule is mans most potent weapon.
6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.
7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
8. Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and
actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.
9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing
itself.
10. The major premise for tactics is the development of
operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.
11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will
break through into its counterside.
12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive
alternative.
13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
The remaining 11 rules Alinsky describes are concerned with the ethics of means and ends:
1. Ones concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with ones personal interest in the issue Accompanying this rule is the parallel one that ones concern with the ethics of means and ends varies inversely with ones distance from the scene of conflict.
2. The judgment of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgment.
3. In war the end justifies almost any means.
4. Judgment must be made in the context of the times in which the action occurred and not from any other chronological vantage point.
5. Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa.
6. The less important the end to be desired, the more one can afford to engage in ethical evaluations of means.
7. Generally success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics.
8. The morality of a means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.
9. Any effective means is automatically judged by the opposition as being unethical.
10. You do what you can with what you have and clothe it with moral garments.
11. Goals must be phrased in general terms like Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Of the Common Welfare, Pursuit of Happiness, or Bread and Peace.
Newspapers: How can we prove we don’t collude with one another against Trump?
Boston Globe: Let’s all publish columns denouncing him on the same day!
Newspapers: Genius!
The Boston Globe’s dirty war on its competitor Herald Traveler (got FCC to deny license renewal of HT’s sister TV station; Herald later folded but eventually returned).
“Its not the medias lies, fake news and spin. Its what they bury that makes them enemies of the people”
Good point.
I’d like to see the editors discuss the content and balance of their reporting, as opposed to preaching about freedom of the press.
