Roundup does cause cancer, a jury has declared in an unprecedented trial into the health dangers of Monsanto's weedkiller.
After three days of deliberations, jurors on Friday sided with terminally-ill groundsman Dewayne Johnson, 46, who has just weeks to live, awarding him $250 million in punitive damages, plus nearly $40m in compensatory damages, bringing the total to $289m.

“Doesnt matter, a corporation has the duty to know if their product causes or could cause damage to humans that use it.”
Every product can kill. Starting with water.
I think you meant to say “caveat emptor” rather than caveat emperor——unless the emperor happens to be the buyer also.
Your post is too long to quote but how do you know Roundup caused his cancer? Maybe he misused it. Maybe his cancer had nothing to do with it’s use. My point is, without some direct correlation, is it fair that the jury awarded all this money? Was it just sympathy for this poor suffering person? Now we are all going to pay more for Roundup and the lawyers are the ones who are really going to benefit. Of course the Democrats will too since the trial lawyers are among their their largest contributors.
Roundup is not a neurotoxin. Quit lying.
You mean like gun manufacturers?

“Safety evaluation and risk assessment of the herbicide Roundup and its active ingredient, glyphosate, for humans.

Abstract
Reviews on the safety of glyphosate and Roundup herbicide that have been conducted by several regulatory agencies and scientific institutions worldwide have concluded that there is no indication of any human health concern. Nevertheless, questions regarding their safety are periodically raised. This review was undertaken to produce a current and comprehensive safety evaluation and risk assessment for humans. It includes assessments of glyphosate, its major breakdown product [aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA)], its Roundup formulations, and the predominant surfactant [polyethoxylated tallow amine (POEA)] used in Roundup formulations worldwide. The studies evaluated in this review included those performed for regulatory purposes as well as published research reports. The oral absorption of glyphosate and AMPA is low, and both materials are eliminated essentially unmetabolized. Dermal penetration studies with Roundup showed very low absorption. Experimental evidence has shown that neither glyphosate nor AMPA bioaccumulates in any animal tissue. No significant toxicity occurred in acute, subchronic, and chronic studies. Direct ocular exposure to the concentrated Roundup formulation can result in transient irritation, while normal spray dilutions cause, at most, only minimal effects. The genotoxicity data for glyphosate and Roundup were assessed using a weight-of-evidence approach and standard evaluation criteria. There was no convincing evidence for direct DNA damage in vitro or in vivo, and it was concluded that Roundup and its components do not pose a risk for the production of heritable/somatic mutations in humans. Multiple lifetime feeding studies have failed to demonstrate any tumorigenic potential for glyphosate. Accordingly, it was concluded that glyphosate is noncarcinogenic. Glyphosate, AMPA, and POEA were not teratogenic or developmentally toxic. There were no effects on fertility or reproductive parameters in two multigeneration reproduction studies with glyphosate. Likewise there were no adverse effects in reproductive tissues from animals treated with glyphosate, AMPA, or POEA in chronic and/or subchronic studies. Results from standard studies with these materials also failed to show any effects indicative of endocrine modulation. Therefore, it is concluded that the use of Roundup herbicide does not result in adverse effects on development, reproduction, or endocrine systems in humans and other mammals. For purposes of risk assessment, no-observed-adverse-effect levels (NOAELs) were identified for all subchronic, chronic, developmental, and reproduction studies with glyphosate, AMPA, and POEA....”
Someone I know had a neighbor spray Roundup all over his yard and the spray drifted into hers.
It took a week but her Dobermann bitch died horribly from the side effects.
Vet college verified the cause of illness/death.

Back in 1994, my dad wanted the Mulitflora obliterated and he called my uncle to come and spray them.
Back then, you needed a hazmat license to even use it and he showed up in a full hazmat suit.
We were warned to go nowhere near the area for a month [ha] because of the danger.
That chemical he sprayed back then is now known as Roundup and any idiot can buy it in a grocery store.
They need Monsanto to be demonized. How can they sell their gluten free products of they do not?
The jerk up the hill, who has right of way through my property, without asking, sprayed Roundup along my goat pasture fence.
Shortly thereafter, my formerly health Pygmy Goat whether up and died.
Fond him in his house, head torqued backwards with a look of terror on his sweet face.
I did not make the connection...until he did it again and my other Pygmy Goat also up and died.
In seizures and screaming.
He has been warned what dire reaction will happen if he so much as sprays it anywhere near my land, even to the point of mist drifting in, again.
ResultsAmong 54 251 applicators, 44 932 (82.8%) used glyphosate, including 5779 incident cancer cases (79.3% of all cases). In unlagged analyses, glyphosate was not statistically significantly associated with cancer at any site. However, among applicators in the highest exposure quartile, there was an increased risk of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) compared with never users (RR = 2.44, 95% CI = 0.94 to 6.32, Ptrend = .11), though this association was not statistically significant. Results for AML were similar with a five-year (RRQuartile 4 = 2.32, 95% CI = 0.98 to 5.51, Ptrend = .07) and 20-year exposure lag (RRTertile 3 = 2.04, 95% CI = 1.05 to 3.97, Ptrend = .04).
Conclusions
In this large, prospective cohort study, no association was apparent between glyphosate and any solid tumors or lymphoid malignancies overall, including NHL and its subtypes. There was some evidence of increased risk of AML among the highest exposed group that requires confirmation.
I was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was 52.
Where do I go to pickup my Check?
I’m all for more information, as long as it is presented in a balanced way. That said...
You did read the part about 5000 such suits out there (and I am seeing ads on TV by lawyers encouraging more people to come to them so they (the legal firm) can handle the lawsuit)? This could destroy Monsanto. Great. A whole lot more people are going to die if Roundup / Glyphosate goes out the window, than would ever be harmed by anything resembling safe handling per the label instructions.
My wife was telling me this guy got himself pretty well doused with Roundup more than once. (Granted, I don’t know where she read that.) Still, how does anyone read the label directions and not realize Roundup is a product that must be handled with care, and proper protective gear, if significant exposure is a possibility?

(More) Balanced info.: I would guess that the lead that keeps the average garden hose flexible is more dangerous to more people than Roundup handled and used per the label...
“Pesticides and herbicides are neurotoxic.”
Sorry but you are totally ignorant about the subject. Take some hours to educate yourself instead of blaming your ignorance on lack of infos or on someone somewhere hiding the something. That’s the typical excuses of the fool greens.
So you're saying that the regulations back then were unnecessarily strict?
Regards,
That said, it proves nothing one way or the other.
Report of the Joint Committee on Pesticide Residues, WHO/FAO, Geneva, 16-May, 2016
------
"Glyphosate: EFSA updates toxicological profile EFSA and the EU Member States have finalised the re-assessment of glyphosate, a chemical that is used widely in pesticides. The report concludes that glyphosate is unlikely to pose a carcinogenic hazard to humans and proposes a new safety measure that will tighten the control of glyphosate residues in food. The conclusion will be used by the European Commission in deciding whether or not to keep glyphosate on the EU list of approved active substances, and by EU Member States to re-assess the safety of pesticide products containing glyphosate that are used in their territories."

Lord knows the Euros would have found the US company Monsanto guilty of anything and everything if they had the chance.

The blended herbicides 2,4D and 2,4,5T in Agent Orange were developed and first used by the Brits in Malaya in the 1950's without worldwide clamor. JFK and Dean Rusk felt in 1961 that was a basis for their use as a defoliant in Vietnam. What they weren't aware of was the deadly impurity dioxin which existed in the blend contracted out by Monsanto to various East European manufacturers. Nor were they aware until after the damage was done that the US military was applying the chemicals in levels which were dozens, even hundreds of times higher than the application rates specified by Monsanto.
Plenty of blame to go around in regard to Agent Orange use and abuse in Southeast Asia, but some here are inaccurately trying to draw conclusions, suggesting if Monsanto was guilty in some respect in one instance than they are guilty in all activities.
Colony Collapse Disorder. Beealogics research. Monsanto bought. Research buried. Circa 2012.
I know of NO authoritative study even remotely suggesting short term lethal toxic effects from Glyphosate, such as you are contending. Do you have such evidence?
Anecdotally, we have prevailing westerly winds and a large field to the west of us, cycled between corn, soybeans, and fallow. It of course gets hit with Roundup, 2 out of 3 years, and we have never seen any effect on either our own animals or any of the wildlife (birds, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, woodchucks, snakes, and a variety of smaller reptiles, amphibians, insects, etc., that visit or reside here.) One year we did see light effects on a few sensitive plants. A caveat: We are across the road from said field, and I’ve never seen actual sprayed mist from that field enter our property. The odor of the Roundup has been very strong at times, however. (We stay in the house for a while.)
Now, it could be that an additive, carrier, or surfactant caused problems for you. I have seen diesel fuel added to Roundup, for example.
