Cincinnati police officers used a Taser on an 11-year-old girl accused of stealing from a supermarket.

I won't tell you more about it, because IF I did and you did get to see it, somehow, more would spoil it all for you! It's a Sci-Fi cum fantasy show with more twists and turns and mysteries than I want to tell.
I agree with everything you say. However you and I know the cops are given a greater latitude in dealing with punks, teens and criminals. As they should be.
Did you see the picture of this 11-year-old in post 77? I have to admit I pictured this kid to look more like her mama does. But. I still defend the use of a taser on this child. Why? Because it is still overall the safest most effective means to stop an offender.
Can you imagine if a 235 pound cop were to have bodyslammed this child to the floor in an attempt to detain her? He would likely break most of her bones, if not out right kill her.
“Gowdy said her daughter is still complaining of back pain and has had trouble sleeping.”
I don’t know about the back pain, but she already had trouble sleeping, she was out stealing at 11 pm.
Until they run out of new ideas, and will then do a 20 years after sequel series.
Correct, it was not a good thing. Calling people who disagree boot lickers is not a good thing either.
Thanks for the additional info.
LOL...who knows; it was a Canadian show, but aired on BBCAmerica, here.
Cue the ambulance chaser.
Exactly, a responsible parent does not let their 11 year out of the house unsupervised at 11:00 PM.
ok - how about she WAS being forced into a life of theivery as part of an Oliver Twist gang?
Tasing her to stop her may very well have saved her life from child predators.
She wasn’t tased because she stole food or whatever. She was tased because she refused to stop when ordered, and ran away from the officer.
Oh...I watched it from the beginning. Got kind of hard to follow toward to end. I’m old. Don’t like complicated story lines, and it did get more complicated (at least for me) as the series went on. Tatiana Maslany did an excellent job portraying all the various characters though.
Most shoplifters don’t fight if they are caught and there is no need to even touch them. It’s such a minor offense that fighting is not worth it. Only insane people or ignorant young kids like this girl would fight.
If they do run and you can’t hold them without risking injury, you should let the shoplifter go. No need to put anyone’s body at risk over some trinkets
True, but if the following is true what type of mother lets her 11 and 9 year old girls out of the home unsupervised at such an hour.
The girl said she was with her 9-year-old sister and another friend. She didn’t want to talk about what happened. She only said she felt sad. The Enquirer is not naming the girl.
By girl I think they are referring to the tazed 11 year old but what in the blue blazes was her 9 year old sister doing out at such an hour?
During some training, I was hit with a taser. It hurt and I couldn’t do anything but fall down. I was over in seconds and I was fine. Its perfect to stop someone without having to use more force.
Tackling someone is more dangerous to the perp and to the cop. I don’t know if it was justified in this circumstance without more accurate facts, but at worse it was not good judgement.
I just wish that some of the loose ends had been tied up, at then end; or made one last series.
“People routinely suffer injuries/deaths from heart attacks or falls when tazed.”
BS, this is rare not routine. How many would be hurt (including the officer) if they were taken down?
Why are you on this site?
It's amazing what kids get up to these days. I grew up in the 50's, graduated from high school in '65. I was 18, working full-time, living at home, paying room and board, and still had to be home before midnight. During the summer when we were kids, we had to be in the house by 9 p.m. or earlier, depending on what my mother's orders were. There were four of us. We never snuck out of the house.
