Cincinnati police officers used a Taser on an 11-year-old girl accused of stealing from a supermarket.

11? Serious? I did not read the article but 11? Taze?
According to police reports, the girl is 4-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 90 pounds.
Also according to the Cincinnati Police TASER use manual:
Cincinnati police are told Tasers can be used on people, ages 7 to 70, actively resisting arrest, which in some cases includes fleeing from officers or ignore commands to stop, according to the department’s procedure manual.
An individual simply fleeing from an officer, absent additional justification,
does not warrant the use of the TASER, the manual states. The TASER may be deployed on a suspect actively resisting arrest when there is probable cause to arrest the suspect.
Officers are told to weigh the severity of the crime and the risk the suspect poses to the public.
“The preferred target area is the back of the individual actively resisting arrest, the manual states.

Very offbeat, extremely well written, acted, and produced, though I do wish that more loose ends had been tied up at the end, because the series is now done/over/complete/not to be brought back.
Did you read my entire post?
The article doesn't say what she stole or why.
Did she do this on her own or did someone put her up to it?
Can you at least entertain there are other possibilities?
If she was instructed to steal for someone else, a parent perhaps, is the girl to blame? How could a young girl refuse?
It then becomes 'thou shall not steal' vs. 'honor they mother and father'.
I want to know WHY a child would steal instead of just beating the life out of a young child who may be a victim of unscrupulous adults.
You sound like Andy Griffin who always jumped to the wrong conclusion about Opie until he found out Opie had a reason for what he did.
I admit there are 'bad seeds'.
Sometimes there's more to a story if you stop jumping to conclusions and ask questions.
“If there is a possibility of death, it should not be used for such a small offense”

I doubt very much that she was tazed for shoplifting-—use your head.
.
LOL probably true....
Thank you. I am filing this for a later follow up.
her daughter admitted to taking the snacks, but that police should have handled the situation differently.
Gowdy said her daughter is still complaining of back pain and has had trouble sleeping.
Maybe there's surveillance videos that they're searching through in order to identify any other suspects involved. But then the Mayor let the little brat go and apologized to the big, fat mama, so I doubt anything else will be done on the case, and all is hunky dory until next time.

Looks like the policy (after reading the article) is to taze kids starting at 7. This is sick. I’d be in jail if I used a taser on an 7 year old if they were stealing candy. Just saying. Common sense is missing here.
LOL!! You've wasted more than years.
You must teach in some "nice" school like PS 6 in Manhattan, or on the UWS/UES, or one of the nice areas in Brooklyn, Queens, or Staten Island then. Or a private school?
I'm not a police officer; however I'm a parent and grandparent so I know what kids that age look like...and yes, I'm talking about upper middle to upper class kids. But socio-economics doesn't matter...it's the size and mobility that I'm talking about.
You aren't a parent, but IF you were, would you allow your 11 year old to be out at night and knowing where he or she was nor with whom, strolling around a supermarket shop lifting?
You’re either a Pajamboy squish or a bleeding heart female with no common sense.
Yes, 11...roaming around late at night...STEALING!
Also the officer was off duty working at the Kroger, so let the political grandstanding by all the politicians in the DA’s, Mayor’s and Police Chief’s offices begin.
Kroger was his employer when this event happened. But the vacuous victim vampires will milk it for all the PR they can get out of it.
It sounds like the "youth section" of a local gang and YES, gangs have what they used to call "THE SHORTIES". I don't know what they are called now, though.
Using a taser isn't considered deadly force. That's why it's preferred over shooting or beating a perp to submit.
How do you know shoplifting places no lives at risk? There are no guaranteed outcomes when it comes to catching someone in a criminal act. You never know how that person is going to react when you attempt to stop them.
LOL! Wouldn't be able to help you anyway. The only cop show I watch is Joe Kenda, and Joe always get his man...or woman.
