Union protestors and celebrity advocates have decided that waiters' tips aren't big enough...
As usual, those who want the government to decide that workers must be paid more insist that "women and minorities" are hurt by the market.
But waitress Alcieli Felipe is a minority and a woman. She says the celebrities and politicians should butt out.
Thanks to tips, Felipe says in my new internet video, she makes "$25 an hour. By the end of the year, $48,000 to $50,000."
She understands that if government raises the minimum, "It'll be harder for restaurants to keep the same amount of employees... (T)he busboy will be cut."
She's right...

Yep, and Im speaking as someone who worked in a multiple of crappy bar and waitering jobs as a youngster.
I was GRATEFUL for any tips I received. The Young Marxists of today seem to demand that we hand over 30% or more on any meal, regardless of how good or bad service was.
My first job at age 13 was a busboy at the St.Johns Diner next to the OTB on Liberty Ave and Lefferts Blvd.
Got paid a dollar an hour and the waiter would kick in $4.00 a shift whether we were serving Henry Hill an the Vario crew, or just regular people.
The wait staff can do that job.
And we usually tip 20%...more at Christmas...bonuses
..lol
Aside arriving 4 hours late, we hope you enjoyed your flight. Please sign up for this credit card........
It’s not that I don’t like waiters. I just believe that many waiters will still want tips unless they are paid considerably more than $15/hour.
Anyone who has worked in food service is an excellent tipper. Never, ever fails.
My God! I grew up on Liberty Avenue and Lefferts Blvd! My family lived on Linden Blvd. at 126th St.
Tip big, people.
If you want to be a big shot, you have to throw some money around.
Absolutely. It’s harder than it looks.
Just say I dont Tip .Im a Democrat ,LOL
><
I know a couple whose waitress wore a big Hillary button. They ate dinner and told the waitress that they were sure she didn’t object to them giving her tip to a homeless man they had seen down the street. She was livid.
In most countries, the waiters work for the restaurant. At a fixed wage.
In America, the waiters work for ME. I pay them appropriately to how well they work for me.
Woe to the man who refuses to tip an airline pilot!
Wow, so you went to PS 100?
I went to JHS 226 the first year it opened and then went to Brooklyn Tech for HS.
I never tip less than $5.00.
If someone spends an hour on me, making contact during that time to provide service, they deserve $5.00 for it, no matter that cost of the food or services.
If the normal 20% tip winds up more than $5.00, I pay the regular tip amount, but rounded to the nearest dollar.
Tip is for meal cost alone. When meal cost and tax are added, I round the tip up or down to the nearest dollar.
My tips can be considerably above 20%. They may dip to 19.25% too, depending on if I have rounded up or down.
You go to a fancy restaurant and you’re supposed to augment the wages of the waitstaff while the owner drives off in his BMW or whatever. Roll the price of paying your waitstaff a decent salary into the food prices. Problem solved. I was in Tokyo once and went to a tea house and left the change from my bill on the table - a waiter chased me down to return the change. Why should I tip someone who just takes my money for a meal? Do you tip when you check out at Walmart? Why do you think I’m cheap when I have to supplement anyone’s salary. Where do you stop and when do you decide that tipping here is okay but not at some other place.
Donald Trump's Palm Beach Mar-A-Lago resort is currently seeking approval for 40 foreign H-2B “seasonal food servers.”
The wage is $12.68. The resort does not allow tipping, and they do not guarantee a 40 hour week.
I posted the Mar-A-Lago H-2B application on Free Republic about a month ago.
Yeah, I hang with some Spirit folks at Atlanta and some of the stories .... whew.
Yeah - that next landing might have your under seat luggage in your face ... LOL
It’s all in the social graces. We live in a society with other people, and there is such a thing as being graceful.
The left wins when we lose our softness. We have to win our freedom while being kind.
