WHat’s the point of stealing a car nowadays? they all have GPS, onstar and are easily traced, give or take a day. Cameras are everywhere. Today, no one is going to steal a 1962 Dodge Dart.
To: SpeedyInTexas
Wow! That’s a stretch.
I never considered that thieves contemplate economic trade and tariffs when updating their annual business plans to steal cars.
To: SpeedyInTexas
Meh. We can always have another round of ‘Cash for Clunkers’ if it gets that bad.

Actually, the 1962 Dart would be easy to steel and not have technology that would track it. It might be the easiest target.

Get a manual transmission.

we’re all dead, anyway. the ones that survived the global flooding brought on by climate change were killed in the nuclear war DJT started early in his administration.

Auto tariffs could make cars more valuable to thieves. Easy fix. As the rate of thefts increases, raise the penalties. If done correctly, the result will soon be no car thefts. (See horse thievery for example.)

Decriminalizing auto theft certainly has. But CA’s done it anyway.

Wall + border security + deportations = less car thieves.
