(snip) --- Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Sunday said she wants to keep her Supreme Court seat for at least five more years.
Im now 85, Ginsburg said Sunday in New York at a production about late Justice Antonin Scalia called The Originalist, CNN reported. My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years.
(snip) ---- Ginsburg cited good behavior and the lack of term limits as reasons why she intends to remain on the bench into the foreseeable future. You cant set term limits, because to do that youd have to amend the Constitution, she said. Article 3 says we hold our offices during good behavior And most judges are very well behaved.
CNN reports that Ginsburg has hired law clerks for at least two more court terms.

God may have other plans.
A weekend at Bernie’s position.
OMG!! She was Beautiful BEFORE she turned into a LEFTIST!!
Among things Judge Judy (also a little ‘long in the tooth’) is wont to say:
“If I were 5’11” I may be a fashion model”
or
“Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it is raining”
The problem with setting term limits is you lose the good with the bad, the fit and healthy with the frail and demented.
So well get her in the next term...
Works for me either way.
GOD forbid!!!
Don’t you have to be alive?
In the midst of making "her" plans, she forgot: "Man proposes, God disposes."
lol
LOL.......would be a nice surprise, for sure.
You mean 2018. If she goes in 2019 then the Senate should keep the seat open for the winner of the 2020 election. After all, the precedent has been set. Right?
I love how libs site the Constitution by article and section whenever it suits them, but all other times, its a living and breathing Constitution. Well, when the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution, Mz. RBG, people did not live past their 60s in most cases, much less to 90. Therefore, it should be incumbent upon all justices to step down at the life expectancy age in the late 18th century when the Constitution was ratified. We need a SC Justice retirement control law!
Wow - very lovely. Scary what having one’s soul consumed by leftist hate can do to someone.
At 5+ years she seems to be suggesting she’d be willing to step down if the Dems beat Trump in 2020, before the outcome of the 2024 election is known—to avoid a Merrick Garland situation before the GOP might regain the presidency.
That would be 6+ years. I think she’s covering for the possibility of a Democrat president next time around.
Reality has a bad habit of slapping you upside the head.
Since his days are determined, The number of his months is with You;
And his limits You have set so that he cannot pass.
Job 14:5
Only the Lord knows the number of days she will be given.
Ruth, like most people, believe that the choice to remain as a Supreme Court Justice is in her power. It is not. God will determine her length of employment. She can choose to do so, but God decides on when they leave. That is why it is a matter of prayer, not a matter of her personal will.
