(snip) --- Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Sunday said she wants to keep her Supreme Court seat for at least five more years.
Im now 85, Ginsburg said Sunday in New York at a production about late Justice Antonin Scalia called The Originalist, CNN reported. My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years.
(snip) ---- Ginsburg cited good behavior and the lack of term limits as reasons why she intends to remain on the bench into the foreseeable future. You cant set term limits, because to do that youd have to amend the Constitution, she said. Article 3 says
we hold our offices during good behavior
And most judges are very well behaved.
CNN reports that Ginsburg has hired law clerks for at least two more court terms.

If 90 is a "kabillion" how much is 95?

Ginsburg cited good behavior and the lack of term limits as reasons why she intends to remain on the bench into the foreseeable future. You cant set term limits, because to do that youd have to amend the Constitution, she said. So let's amend The Constitution.. I cant believe The Founders intended RBG and her ilk to sit on the court for forty or fifty years. And while we're at it, set term limits for all Federal judges. And Congress too.

She can say what she wants; Scalia probably would’ve said something similar had you asked him in January 2016.
The Grim Reaper might ‘overrule’ her on this one though.

This time-limit discussion comes up often with the Supreme Court, and gets dismissed. I think until it gets settled with the House/Senate with limitations....this will continue on. Personally, I think a 8-year appointment ought to be set, with a 2-year optional appointment if the President wanted to retain their services.
In Ginsburg’s case...I don’t think she’ll make that five-year challenge.

Instead of term limits for the Court, how about a weight limit? Ginsburg weighs about 65 pounds at this point. Any human who is likely to blow away in a strong wind should not be deciding matters of constitutional import.

we hold our offices during good behavior You are right the founders never envisaged USSC judges sitting for 40 or 50 years because the job was physically demanding.
The first SC Judges road circuit. They actually spent a lot of time on horse back riding from court house to court house. In good weather and bad.
After congress created new courts (Federal appellate courts) to perform these duties the job got easier and they could stay in Washington D.C.

So, you suggest Ruthie shouldn't be involved in any "weighty" decisions?
