Mitch McConnell Calls Dems’ Bluff, Threatens Election Eve Vote on Kavanaugh

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is threatening to tee up a November vote on Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh if Democrats do not drop their extensive request for records, according to a Friday Politico report. Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), are demanding documents, perhaps up to one million pages of them, spanning Kavanaugh’s career in the George W. Bush White House as he comes up for Senate consideration. Breitbart News’s Senior Legal Editor Ken Klukowski opined Friday that Schumer’s move was “merely an obstructionist tactic to push his confirmation into 2019 to harm Republicans in the midterms, and hoping to retake Senate control so they can keep the Supreme Court seat open until 2021, after the next presidential election.”

According to Politico, McConnell told Capitol Hill Republicans at meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday if the left persisted in these requests, he would delay the vote on Kavanaugh until late October or November, forcing vulnerable red state Democrats to vote up or down on Kavanaugh just before voters go to the polls. McConnell, by the same reports, reiterated his preference for a vote before the Senate’s October recess, which would allow Kavanaugh to take his seat before the opening of the Supreme Court’s main 2018-2019 session.

McConnell’s delaying the vote through October may also deprive the same incumbent Democrats of their October recess and the ability to campaign full-time in the leadup to the election.

A man in his late 20s who's interested in HS aged girls is not normal

Yes, it is. This goes back quite a few years, when Roy Moore was in his 20s. It was not at all uncommon for girls to graduate from HS and marry a respectable young man. You're drinking the Kool Aid. Even if you don't approve (cultural bias), it was a non-issue except to steal a US Senate seat from the 'pubs.

Notice how the issue disappeared after the election? Probably because there never was a real issue.

It’s because Moore has “disappeared” too! You can be o.k. with it if it suits you, but it isn’t the norm for men to marry women 20 years their junior as Moore has done. And you can “stand” with him if you want with his continual war about the Ten Commandments, but for the vast majority of people, he’s a kook on that issue as well. There was a non-controversial candidate that would have kept the seat in Republican hands, and that person was Mo Brooks. Moore managed to whore up the election and now Alabama, to it’s everlasting shame, has elected a RAT to the open Senate seat, making the Trump Agenda all the more difficult to accomplish. Are you really so wrapped up with this odd-ball Moore, that you are willing to accept what he did to the country? For me religious extremism is a problem, no matter on which side of the spectrum it occurs.

Roy Moore supported the Deplorable Agenda. Which is why establishment ‘pubs let the US Senate seat go to a dem. You don’t support that wing of the Republican Party, do you? They’re worse than useless.

No I don’t, but I think Moore’s candidacy was a mistake nonetheless. I believe that the GOPe wanted Strange, and I am willing to concede that they probably were willing to loose the seat rather than have Moore win it. Whether or not the GOPe had a hand in some skulduggery or not, the people didn’t want Moore. He had too much baggage, and I still wonder just how effective he’d have been.
