Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is threatening to tee up a November vote on Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh if Democrats do not drop their extensive request for records, according to a Friday Politico report. Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), are demanding documents, perhaps up to one million pages of them, spanning Kavanaughs career in the George W. Bush White House as he comes up for Senate consideration. Breitbart Newss Senior Legal Editor Ken Klukowski opined Friday that Schumers move was merely an obstructionist tactic to push his confirmation into 2019 to harm Republicans in the midterms, and hoping to retake Senate control so they can keep the Supreme Court seat open until 2021, after the next presidential election.
According to Politico, McConnell told Capitol Hill Republicans at meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday if the left persisted in these requests, he would delay the vote on Kavanaugh until late October or November, forcing vulnerable red state Democrats to vote up or down on Kavanaugh just before voters go to the polls. McConnell, by the same reports, reiterated his preference for a vote before the Senates October recess, which would allow Kavanaugh to take his seat before the opening of the Supreme Courts main 2018-2019 session.
McConnells delaying the vote through October may also deprive the same incumbent Democrats of their October recess and the ability to campaign full-time in the leadup to the election.

Really not a shock. I think the Putin visit is timed to be a part of the campaign period as well. There’s probably a white-board in the President’s office with five or six public events to really grab public attention, and downplay the Democrats.
Why wait. Confirm him ASAP, and then put a voter ID law before the court right before the election
In my view, McConnell could be a lot less clunky with this execution. He could schedule the vote in Sept. and leave the Dems all the free time they need to campaign during the Oct. recess. If it were scheduled for Sept. 21, that’s a whole 2 months from now.
Agree 100%. (1)Waiting until election eve would be more of a stunt than an effective gesture. For starters, a very high percentage of voters would already have voted. (2)Then there's the high probability that the maniacs will gin up a fake issue if they're given so much as August vacation to seed and sow to bully some US Senators (including 'pubs who despise Trump and their voting fodder) and excuse to vote against Kavanaugh. (3) Another thought: The confirmation vote being out there gives the opposition a chance to campaign against what they'll claim Kavanaugh would vote for, totally scaring undecided voters.
Don't the fools (or traitors) learn from experience? The Roy Moore non-issue had even some 'pubs we thought we could count on backing off.
McConnell’s right. Scheduling the confirmation vote for just before the election will cause the Democrats to take some of the time off of their campaigns to go through documents and continue being obsessed with the confirmation. Their crazed constituents, fire up by needless, Democrat-fabricated hysteria about the abortion issue, will continue to demand it from them.
Confirmation will be all the more likely then, too. Kavanaugh already went through a lengthy confirmation process and will emerge from this one confirmed again.
McConell should get the vote done in September and put him on the court when it resumes in October. This will give the pubbies plenty of time to let the public know who votes against him to help Trump candidates. But, who can trust McConell?
Vote next week!!!! Do not give the dems any time to dredge up some writing, twist the words and demagogue it. Keep putting wins in the column. That is what keeps the base fired up and the dems despondent and crazy.
The dems won’t vote for him no matter how many millions of documents they get. Vote now and get it over with.
Election eve? I thought they planned to hold the vote before the new SCOTUS term starts in October. Just get him confirmed ASAP and don’t play games with this.
Good move.
Schumer needs to shut up and crawl back into whatever hole he came out of.
Of course, that is also a good idea.
There’s no shortage of issues they could put up for a vote just before the elections.
RUSH said a similar thing the other day. Just get ‘er done! Demwits will not support Kavanaugh or any Trump SCOTUS appointee. Oh sure, maybe “Lonesome Joe” Manchin.
But I thought McTurtle said he would be confirmed by early fall, so as to have him on the bench for the opening of the SCOTUS session?
Couldnt this backfire and motivate the pro abortion/antifa base?

Thumb screws do work.

The kooks are already in full fever pitch meltdown mode so it probably wouldn't make any difference.
“The Roy Moore non-issue had even some ‘pubs we thought we could count on backing off. “
I’m sorry but Roy Moore WAS AN ISSUE! He’s a kook no matter what you think about hie religious predilection. A man in his late 20’s who’s interested in high school-aged girls is not normal.
Mitch grew a spine.
