NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer secretly recorded Trump discussing payments to a former Playboy model who said she had an affair with him.
The president’s current personal lawyer confirmed the conversation and said it showed Trump did nothing wrong, The New York Times reported Friday. ABC News and The Washington Post confirmed the report as well.
Citing lawyers and others familiar with the recording, The Times said attorney Michael Cohen made the recording two months before Trump’s 2016 election. The newspaper said the FBI seized the recording during an April raid on Cohen’s office amid an investigation into his business dealings.
People familiar with the investigation have told The Associated Press that the raid sought, among other things, any information on payments made in 2016 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who says she had an affair with Trump in 2006. He denies it.
The Wall Street Journal revealed, days before the election, that the National Enquirer — run by Trump supporter David Pecker — had paid $150,000 to silence McDougal. At the time, Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said, “We have no knowledge of any of this.”
Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani told the Times the Republican president did discuss the payments to McDougal with Cohen on the less than two-minute-long recording, but that the payment was never made.
Giuliani says Trump told Cohen that if he did make a payment, to do it by check so it could be documented.
“Nothing in that conversation suggests that he had any knowledge of it in advance,” Giuliani told the newspaper. “In the big scheme of things, it’s powerful exculpatory evidence.”

Frankly, Bill Clinton’s sexual proclivities never bothered me all that much, there were many other things that did that I didn’t like. I joked about them more than anything.
I think we all assume he did it because...looking at her...we would.
I’m not sure that’s applicable, however we do know that she blackmailed him. Given her means of making money in general, it’s hard to believe straight out blackmail is beneath her.

Just gonna throw out that I met Karen McDougal at the Chiller Theatre convention in Parsippany, NJ back in 2015.
Rape accusations aside - I didn’t care either. My problem was him doing an intern which (as all feminists were screaming until just before that point) is sexual harassment regardless of consent.
I wanted - and still want - Clinton held to the same rules the progressives impose on everyone else. But they’ve not only doubled down they’ve expanded their hypocrisy to all walks of life.
I know. It’s just a quirk I have. The entire media establishment ignores Paula Jones and ALWAYS says that what Slick did was just a thing between consenting adults. They were able to successfully change the narrative and make Slick out to be the victim. Weird how that works, ain’t it?
So many in the legal system silent as attorney client privilege is murdered right in front of our eyes.
You want a President whose only sex scandal was admitting he sometimes had lust in his heart? Well we tried that, and it didn’t work out.
