Saying he cant think of a worse crime for someone to commit in a city besieged by violence, a federal judge on Wednesday sentenced an Arkansas man to more than seven years in federal prison for selling military-style semi-automatic rifles and other guns to a felon in Chicago.
In handing down the 87-month sentence, U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman told Klint Kelley that his actions undoubtedly contributed to the citys intolerable level of gun violence, even though the guns he trafficked werent directly connected to a shooting.
As more than a dozen of Kelleys relatives and supporters most of them from Arkansas looked on from the courtroom gallery, Guzman described in detail how drug dealers and gang members shoot it out in the streets while Chicago neighborhoods disintegrate and parents walk their children to school through safe zones.
Caught in between are innocent bystanders, Guzman said. Kids shot while skipping rope in front of their homes, people being shot while sitting in their living room, police officers being shot at and having to shoot back, police officers shooting people who dont have guns because they are so afraid that they might have a gun. It is chaos.
Kelley, 28, of Malvern, Ark., pleaded guilty in March to two gun trafficking charges alleging he sold a total of 21 guns over a five-month period last year to a felon who turned out to be working undercover for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, court record show.

Gangbangers don't have FOID cards. FFLs can refuse a sale for any reason, or no reason, even if you pass the NICS check. This fact has been upheld in court many times.
The shootings are with handguns.
You must have an Illinois FOID card to purchase from an FFL in Illinois, and no FFL is going to sell a modern sporting rifle to a FOID holder with a Chicago or Cook County address.
Half right. You do indeed have to have a valid FOID to purchase firearms or ammunition in IL. But no FFL holder Im aware of cares about where you live.
My home town straddles Cook and DuPage counties. My County isnt on my FOID nor is it on my CCL. No one has ever said I cant sell you this rifle because you live in Cook County.
Not once. Ever.
Dont get me wrong. I agree this clown should go away for selling to a felon.

I agree! Shades of Randy Weaver of Ruby Ridge, Idaho. Find some poor schmuck from Arkansas (in Chicago) and offer him big money for “military-style assault weapons”; impact on crime in Chicago - ZERO!
So, he wasn’t actually a felon, he just played on
on the ATF channel?
The article says hes a felon working for the ATF.
I wonder what his GS pay grade is.
L
So, if he’s a felon why isn’t he charged with
purchasing and possession of a firearm?
Oh, different rules I guess.../s
Of course, this supports the narrative that "lax gun control" is the source of the problem instead of the failure of Democratic-controlled cesspools to control their feral populations.
In brief, you and I and other gun-rights advocates are the real criminals.
Since you live in Illinois and I do not, I will defer to your personal experience.
However, your county does go on the 4473 you fill out with your rifle purchase.
Which ones?

True dat. But Ive never see a clerk so much we glance at that line. Many are done electronically these days so the clerk doesnt even see the data.
