Former Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) is urging voters in the general election to vote for Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) instead of Democratic nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who upset him in the party primary.
"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs surprise primary victory over Rep. Joe Crowley seems likely to hurt Congress, America and the Democratic Party. It doesnt have to," Lieberman wrote in an op-ed published Tuesday in The Wall Street Journal.
ADVERTISEMENT "Because the policies Ms. Ocasio-Cortez advocates are so far from the mainstream, her election in November would make it harder for Congress to stop fighting and start fixing problems."
Lieberman noted that Crowley's name will still be on the ballot as the nominee of the Working Families Party.
Thanks to a small percentage of primary votes, all of the people of New Yorks 14th Congressional District stand to lose a very effective representative in Washington, Lieberman wrote. Fortunately, Joe Crowley and the voters in his district can prevent this damage.
Ocasio-Cortez defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points in the June 28 Democratic primary.

Not quite. Lisa Murkowski had to run a write-in campaign. Crowley will also be on the ballot, so all he has to do is run a more effective campaign. The results really hinge on the voter base and turn out.
I almost miss that whining voice. Is Alf still on the air?
I guess Joe doesn’t know that Hillary said 40% of Democrats are Socialists.
The amusing thing here is that Crowley might actually win, with more than fifty-percent of the vote, beating both Ocasio-Cortez and the GOP guy.
While I disagree with Crowley on most things, he's very much an old-style DemocratReally? That says a lot about you.
So the Democrat's were hopeful that Crowley "an old-style Democrat" was going to be Pelosi's replacement to lead the charge to impeach Trump when they won back the house...
The Democrat party favored an old-style Democrat to take over for Pelosi? Right.
Yup! Another missed opportunity for conservatives and for conservatism.
so if crowley were to win as working family party, is he still considered a democrat or would he be in his seat and referred to as a “working family Party” legislator?
Great idea Joe! Where can I send some money to Crowley?
Lieberman is Bolshevik scum, why would this surprise you?
The Establishment Democrat will win the general then since he is still on the ballot.
So do I! Many Dems and the Media have called it the new (horse)face of the Democrat Party....Time to start making the ads!
Working Families sounds communist
Shut up Joe. She Guevara is the face of the Democratic Party and youre just an old white man. Since youre a Jew, you probably hate her for that too!
No borders, no Wall, no USA at all
Abolish ICE!
Free Medicare for all!
Save da Erf!
All is well. :^)
He won the Working Families Party nomination. There is no need to run as an Independent - he is already on the ballot.
Ocasio-Cortez won the Reform Party nomination in addition to the Democrat Party nomination.
He’d probably caucus with the Democrats (like Bernie Sanders, Angus King, et al.) James Buckley (elected as a Conservative, Senate from NY, 1971-77, caucused with the Republicans).
Bernie Sanders caucused with the Democrats when he was a House member.
Virgil Goode was a Democrat then became Independent on Jan. 27, 2000. I’m not sure but I’m guessing he caucused with the Republicans. By 2002 he switched to GOP.
I dunno - I think they'll try to put her on the shelf for a while, buy her some books and send her to school. Then in 2020, they'll dust her off and present her as a "moderate" Democrat. That might not work, as she's already shown that she has a colossal ego - bolstered by the lamestream media.
