so if crowley were to win as working family party, is he still considered a democrat or would he be in his seat and referred to as a “working family Party” legislator?

He’d probably caucus with the Democrats (like Bernie Sanders, Angus King, et al.) James Buckley (elected as a Conservative, Senate from NY, 1971-77, caucused with the Republicans).

Bernie Sanders caucused with the Democrats when he was a House member.

Virgil Goode was a Democrat then became Independent on Jan. 27, 2000. I’m not sure but I’m guessing he caucused with the Republicans. By 2002 he switched to GOP.

James Buckley was elected Senator from New York solely on the Conservative Party line, and he caucused with the Republicans (though he jokingly threatened to caucus with Independent Senator Harry Byrd of Virginia.)

Six years later, he ran as a Republican-Conservative and lost.

I guess the other question would be - would he be eligible to serve as Democrat Caucus Chairman if he is not elected on the Democrat line?

I don’t know but I’m guessing no....Younger Dems want fresh blood in the House Democrat leadership anyway.
