Political Typology Reveals Deep Fissures on the Right and Left (very interesting left demographics

Nearly a year after Donald Trump was elected president, the Republican coalition is deeply divided on such major issues as immigration, America’s role in the world and the fundamental fairness of the U.S. economic system.

The Democratic coalition is largely united in staunch opposition to President Trump. Yet, while Trump’s election has triggered a wave of political activism within the party’s sizable liberal bloc, the liberals’ sky-high political energy is not nearly as evident among other segments in the Democratic base. And Democrats also are internally divided over U.S. global involvement, as well as some religious and social issues.

Having scanned DoodleDawg's posts, I'm honored and humbled to have been confused with her.

I'm more long-winded, though...

Snotty and condescending as usual, what would we do without you as our self-appointed minder, lol.

I was floored by 91% of solid liberals saying "blacks can't get ahead because of discrimination".

What normal person thinks that, or believes that?

Then again, liberals can never be accused of having common sense.

Or knowing a damn thing about the real world.

Ya gotta read more than two sentences. Democrats are united against Trump, but divided on a lot of other things.

There are only two answers to choose from and they strongly disagree with one of them, so they choose the one that's left.

A lot gets left out when there are only two highly polarized choices to pick from.

Further, there are large swaths of Dems that are ripe for "Red-pilling."

People often vote the way the way they do because of long-standing ethnic or racial or regional loyalties, so they aren't as easy to pick off as it might appear if they were voting solely on the issues. That goes for a lot of Democrats who aren't "solid liberals."

I totally agree...I know many Americans of Hellenic descent who were ridiculed by family for not doing their duty and voting for Dukakis despite the fact that he was utterly useless. I am sure the same happened to blacks with Obama.

The key to transformation is many cases is getting that foot in the door. These survey results, as slanted as Pew may have made them, suggest that while Solid Liberals are (for now) beyond reach, there any many people who can be "saved" that have more in common with normal Americans. There may be deeply-ingrained beliefs about Deplorables that may be hard to break, but you don't need to make them full-blooded bitter clingers...just show them enough truth so they make that first step toward freedom.
