Dems who drafted bill to abolish ICE now say they'll vote against it (Ryan calling their bluff)

Democrats who drafted a bill to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] suddenly announced Thursday night that they would vote against it if the legislation went to the floor, after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Fox News he intended to call their bluff.

"We know Speaker [Paul] Ryan is not serious about passing our 'Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement System Act,' so members of Congress, advocacy groups, and impacted communities will not engage in this political stunt," Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York told The Hill and other news outlets. "If Speaker Ryan puts our bill on the floor, we plan to vote no and will instead use the opportunity to force an urgently needed and long-overdue conversation on the House floor."

McCarthy, R-Calif., said earlier Thursday he would place a bill to abolish ICE on the House floor later this month.

Apparently they are not serious about passing their bill either or they wouldn’t be voting against it.

Next up, a bill to make e-verify mandatory and first illegal entry a felony to smoke out the Bush League Republicans who are still hell bent on making the USA into North Mexico.

In 2004 they authored some bills to draft young adults into the military for Iraq and Afghanistan. They cried unfair when their Rat legislation was to be voted on.

They preferred using the issue in 2004 on MTV and elsewhere to tell young voters that Bush was bringing back the draft.

Let me get this straight ...

The Dems create a bill to abolish ICE and submit it to the House leadership for consideration.

The Repubs say "great, we will schedule a vote."

The Dems complain that it has no chance of passing and claim bringing it up for a vote is a political stunt; so the ones who drafted the bill will vote "No."

Someone should ask them "Why draft the bill and submit it if you believe it had no chance to pass?" Isn't this the very definition of a political stunt?

I think we call this "self-parody."

Recalls the day the Dems under Chuck Rangel called for a mandatory draft into the military. So the House voted. Dems said Never Mind and voted against it.

I just sent the URL to all my email buds as a TRUE joke - hilarious! Before introducing it to the floor, I hope Ryan will rename the bill: The Pocan, Jayapal and Espaillat Humane Immigration Enforcement Act. That would put them in the spotlight of idiots for all the world to see....

What a bunch of losers. How could anyone vote for a Democrat politician…unless of course, you vote for a living.

Mark Pocan is a certifiable idiot. His previous legislative accomplishments include leading the Wisconsin lawmakers to flee the state to delay voting on Gov. Walkers reforms even though they were in the minority.

As I said, he’s an idiot.

Has anyone read this bill? It would abolish ICE in a year and replace it with a commission with 17 members: 4 appointed by each party in Congress and 9 “selected [by who?] from the major civil society and immigrants’ rights organizations and individuals directly impacted by ICE practices.” Among the commission’s mandate is “ensuring that total Federal employment is not reduced with the abolition of ICE, prioritizing the hiring of personnel to address the legal, health, and social-service needs of detained individuals, those seeking asylum, and those determined to be most vulnerable within the Federal immigration system. “

I would agree to the abolition of ICE if it is replaced with FIRE

FIRE..... Federal Immigration and Repatriation Enforcement

Have been since 1988 and still most people don’t get it.

Rubio, Graham, Alexander, McCain, Murkowsky and Hoeven were re-elected AFTER they voted to give the Democrats a permanent majority by giving amnesty to millions of fraudulently documented foreigners.

It is a political stunt for Ryan to put up for a vote the Leftists' political stunt that they didn't intend to vote for in the first place.

Yep. Got it, Lefties! Just being your sincere selves.

Here’s how this works. Dems draft a bill to abolish ICE. Republican leaders say that we’ll vote on it. Dems lose their everloving minds, say they’ll vote it down because it’s a political stunt.

If you’re voting against your own bill, why file it? Unless filing the bill was.......a political stunt?

Projection is real.
