The Trump administration announced Tuesday it planned to end what it suggested was an illegal Obama-era rule allowing unions to collect dues from state subsidies intended for home health workers -- including family caregivers.
Federal law generally prohibits states from skimming money from Medicaid payments bound for independent in-home personal care workers. But in 2014, the Obama administration created an exception, saying that states could divert some of that Medicaid money to unions, on the theory that these workers effectively were public-sector employees.
Eleven left-leaning states have used that provision to raise more than $200 million a year for unions by taking it from health workers who often didn't even realize it, according to top GOP officials.

Wonderful!
I like reading good news. A better story would be all the money siphoned off to the unions must be repaid within 30 days.
I’m betting those health care workers got exactly ZERO benefit from suddenly being in a union. That was just a way to divert funds into an entity that would then divert it to the nearest Democratic politician.
The unions are experiencing a rough patch with the public sector unions on their death throes. I do support the traditional trade unions that operate apprenticeships and certify skilled workers. But, the public sector unions are parasites as are many unions that represent unskilled workers.
“A better story would be all the money siphoned off to the unions must be repaid within 30 days.”
with interest! That would be the death knell for some of the unions hanging on by a thread.
Wow. Obama just stayed a community organizer. But of course we all knew that here. That’s one of the main reasons he took the job.
All Trump needs to do to be a great president is to undo every action of his predecessor.
AWESOME
The book has to be written how the Democrats steal money from the people and the nation, and how Trump took it back. Page after page
That’s Redonkulas!
In Michigan the State allowed the SEIU to declare personal home healthcare workers as members and then the State withheld union dues, then paid to SEIU, from the medicaid payments to those workers. Sometime around 2012 Michigan passed a law ending those payments and declaring those healthcare givers as non-union.
I did not know that in 2014 the Obama administration officially allowed states to withhold union dues. I know that Michigan can't as it went to their state Supreme Court but it surly was tacit permission for other states to do so.
The Grifter-in-Chief aiding other grifrs....who’d have thunk?
why, why yes it is! 8^)
Absolutely.
Same needs to be of all public sector unions.
Great news.
