Of course a beauty pageant is based on looks. Otherwise, what's the point? Some talk about "objectifying women", but it is possible to admire a woman's beauty and to appreciate her for other qualities, too.

Some former directors and state pageant heads said they felt pressured by Ms. Carlson and other executives to choose to end the swimsuit competition or risk having the pageant not being broadcast on television.

Either choice will have the same result: no viewers.

I never liked Carlson on Fox & Friends! And, like her even less now!

Miss America was dropping the swimsuit and evening-gown competitions and replacing them with an extended onstage interview.

Who on earth is going to watch a interview? We do interviews in our office. They're boring and tedious. Why would I watch an interview on TV? We don't have swimsuit competitions in our office. That makes a swimsuit competition worth watching.

Liberalism destroys everything it touches.....EVERYTHING, including the Miss America pageant. It is the BORG of this century and should be treated as such.
But hey, they could add a MOXIE drinking contest along with that suggested pie eating contest. Maybe even add a hot dog eating contest too! At least it wouldn’t be some boring “political interview”, and we’d likely to get to see a few of em throw up a little too.
Whoever made these decisions needs to be run out on a rail.

Now I don’t and haven’t ever watched this in probably 40 years, but are they not forgetting their roots? This is a sex-based, appearance-based event and has nothing without it.

It’s not a beauty pageant now, it’s a SJW Q&A competition.

I think a new contest or TV series needs to be created called “America’s Sexiest, Classiest Babes”. No feminists, no sluts, tasteful, no discussion of accomplishments, skills or opinions. No performances because too many great babes are not stage performers.

Miss America, Inc. is going homosexual and letting in homosexual cross-dressing transvestites.

They call them “transgenders”.

So, they have to get rid of the bikini contest.

First they need to announce that the Miss America pageant is only open to people who were born with XX chromosomes. Then they need to acknowledge that it is a BEAUTY contest.......the intelligence being important after the BEAUTY. I was disappointed that they started letting women in who had ridiculously large breast implants. That being said, I haven’t watched the contest in years. I do enjoy watching Miss Congeniality whenever it is on TV though.

Miss America started as a swimsuit competition in 1921,...

When is the Miss America competition? I thought that it was over already.

Stupid is as stupid does.

YES! More on stage interviews /s.

Like Caitlin Upton, third runner-up in the Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant.

Quote:
“I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh, people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future [for our children”
