Media Push Raymond Kethledge’s Inevitability
Breitbart ^ | 7 Jul 2018 | Ian Mason

Posted on 07/08/2018 3:16:24 AM PDT by GonzoII

Judge Raymond Kethledge is being increasingly portrayed as the “consensus” or “compromise” candidate for the Supreme Court in media descriptions of President Donald Trump’s decision making process, suggesting his inevitability despite concerns over such a pick among Trump’s base. “As Donald Trump moves to finalize his Supreme Court pick, Judge Raymond Kethledge is getting a behind-the-scenes push portraying him as the consensus choice of conservatives,” Politico reported Thursday, citing positive interviews and support by conservatives like Hugh Hewitt, many of whom are strongly linked with “Never Trump” sentiments.

The narrative picked up from there. On Friday, The Hill adopted Hewitt’s “Gorsuch 2.0” descriptor, imparting, as Hewitt had, an air of inevitability to a Kethledge pick.

The Daily Mail, meanwhile, went all out on the “compromise” narrative. Slamming other possibilities like Judges Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Barrett, the Mail’s Geoff Earle writes, “An emerging potential ‘compromise’ pick to win President Trump’s nomination to serve on the Supreme Court has Midwest roots lauds people who drink beer ‘straight out of the bottle.'”

In contrast to effusive praise of Kethledge’s “heartland appeal,” Judge Barrett is described as “a member of a controversial religious group” who “is being pushed by some evangelical leaders.”

Trump is enjoying all the speculation about who he will name in the fake news media.

Couldn’t they wait like the rest of us lesser mortals fot the reveal on Monday night?

No wonder liberals are on edge about this nomination.

I have yet to see Trump go with consensus or compromise where it comes to upholding his promises to the public.

If this gent becomes the nominee, it will be purely for Trump’s own reasons.

Let's look at "consensus" candidates of the past, shall we?

Souter? Anyone want to defend Souter?

How about Sandra Day O'Connor? Who wants to defend her pushing abortion? Anyone?

How about Roberts? Anyone want to defend Roberts re-writing Obamacare and forcing it down the American people's throats? Anyone? Anyone?

How about Kennedy, the so-called "swing vote" and moral conscience of America? Besides getting the gay wedding cake case correct what did he do as a consensus candidate that didn't screw conservatives while he was on the court?

All the above were REPUBLICAN CONSENSUS CANDIDATES. NO MORE!

The USSC needs a STRICT CONSTRUCTIONIST in the mold of Scalia and Thomas. Nothing else is acceptable.

That's a ringing vote against Kethledge.

“consensus” or “compromise” candidate.."

If the libtards and RINOs think he is a good choice that is the kiss of death in my book. Our President Trump doesn't have to compromise, dummy media!

Hardiman is our guy. Ran a close second last time and the sleeper candidate that Trump will choose this time. Confirmed to the Appeals Court 95-0 in 2007.

Conservatives gave up on Hewetts’ opinions years ago.

The MSM still refer to him, Kristol and Geo. Wills as Conservatives, which they are not.

I haven’t looked through the credentials and appellate decisions of every candidate presently under consideration, so I don’t have a best choice here. But, this guy is no Souter.

Looking at some of his better known opinions, he is consistently a solid constitutional conservative. He is not, however, and Ivy League graduate and therefore lacks the credentials to a a SC judge in this global world where we have to consider the natural rights of climate change advocates, the sanctified position of sharia law, and the importance of Social Justice.

I can imagine the left trying to torpedo this guy by trying to get themselves and some RINOs behind him.

I am guessing the left is having a real hard time with this guy and are trying to torpedo him by getting behind him. It seems to be working. I haven’t gone through every opinion he has written - which a fair opponent or proponent would have to do.

But, from all appearances this guy is very very solid. Unfortunately for Ann Coulter, I think on the hot vs crazy chart she has jumped off the scale, crazy.

So the establishment gets their open borders Supreme Court pick as well as a thumping for the GOP in the midterms giving power over to the Dems? I hope not.
