The woman who scaled the Statue of Liberty on Wednesday has been identified.
Cops say Therese Patricia Okoumou — a 44-year-old immigrant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo — was the person responsible for the Fourth of July protest.
She lives in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island and is currently in federal custody, according to police sources.
Officers from the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit transported her to a federal detention center on Wednesday night following her three-hour standoff with authorities. Her case is being handled by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York.

I think we should meet her half way. Half way between NYC and her former hell hole, dump her out into the atlantic from 40K feet.
The saddest part of this story is that the tourists who wanted to be at the Statue of Liberty with their families on Independence Day were ordered off Ellis Island when this idiot pulled her stunt. If you read the story, she is a chronic complainer who has had various run-ins with the law as she claims discrimination. We desperately need a merit based immigration system that would have barred her from the US.
So an immigrant from the Congo, was swinging around in our big copper tree on New York harbor?
