Relatively easy today...sort kinda. Homework tonight.
Company picnic tomorrow...I don’t do groups, but those that don’t go have to work. It’s 2p to 7p.
Ruthe and I will drop in, maybe about 3p, find food, and leave after about an hour. d:o)
Oh...I got my new screen door this evening. It’s nice and slides really well.
Did you get some time to dry out? More stormy weather?

I forgot to answer your question about visitors. We did have a few show up today. A couple of the volunteers took turns taking them through I order to keep them at a distance from Bob and the cameraman so as not to mess up the shots. But they got to be in the background at times so they’ll be on TV when the show airs. :-)
It was HORRIBLY hot and muggy - - oh my, it was muggy!! Hard-to-breathe muggy! We had some storms roll through around suppertime and they didn’t col things off much. Just left the air even soupier. UGH!

Well, I hope you didn’t get stuck with too much homework tonight at least.
Sounds like you and Ruthe have a great plan for tomorrow. LOL!
You finally got the new screen door installed? Awesome! As persnickety as the guy sounds, that door should last a looooooooong time.
No drying out today. It was miserably hot all day, then storms rumbled through. From what they said on the weather report tonight, we can expect the same the rest of the week. The soybeans are lovin’ it! LL

A couple of cases with items from the Civil War.
We have several little things like this at the house that have been dug up on the farm over the years. LOTS of bullets, a few buttons and buckles.

Here's a shot of Bob Redfern (dark shirt) interviewing the fella who pretty much runs the museum. I was hiding (and sweltering) upstairs. LOL!
I did talk to Bob after they were through and enjoyed meeting him. He's a character. He was also nice enough to give each of us a nice cap. Here's the one he gave me.
I asked when the shows might air and he said probably in the fall, on the Military Channel and on American Heroes Channel. They do 13 episodes each year and they air one a week. They'll re-air them again about 6 months later. After they air the first time, they're put on You Tube.
Bob also does an outdoor sports show and they do 13 episodes of those each year. They do a lot of travelling around!

For a while, they apparently didn’t sell any of the vehicles when they were through using them. Eventually they started selling them as Army surplus to make a little money rather than throw it away. I thought I had taken a shot of a crushed Jeep that’s right outside the door but apparently not. And I do mean crushed. It’s a little cube of metal. People ask what it is and some of the museum guys tell them, “Your tax dollars at work.”

Never mind Bob! I’m in love with that truck! LOL!
Love the hat and it’s really a trophy hat! So nice of them to give each of you one. I hope I can find it at least on YouTube. Or maybe watch it on the actual TV with hubby. What a concept! :)

Yeah, they’re really cool!
I know there are other rare pieces in there but don’t know what they are. What I should do is tag along with someone who’s getting a guided tour and hear what’s said about the different things in there. But I hit the door and go straight back to my little corner and get to work on those uniforms. I’m trying to get as close to the bottom of the big crate I’m working out of before they pile more in there. LOL! I already know there are four of those crates stored in the shop building for now that have nothing but uniforms in them. And other crates out there have uniforms along with other items in them.
They’re going to Tupelo this weekend to bring back 25 or more crates and I don’t know how many of those have uniforms in them. Hubby’s going down there, too, to help haul them back.

I’ve heard a few people talk about those ration coupons/books, too, and it’s cool to know what some of them look like.
Those were tough times for folks.

Yes, there’s a small selection of Civil War items. I don’t know how many came from the Creely collection and how many were donated by locals. A lot of folks around here have dug up Civil War artifacts over the years.
