I suppose it is hard work getting all the payoffs lined up to maximize the benefit of not voting your conscience.
You are assuming McCain CAN vote at all, and Flake will vote yes, and Snowe will vote yes, and Thune as well.
Don’t count on ex GropGROPelites for anything but their paychecks.
If a judge isnt confirmed before the mid terms the turn out will be huge for republicans in November.Perfect timing. more Winnning.
Crissy obviously doesn’t understand that “The Biden Rule” only applies to the last year a POTUS is in Office.
It has nothing to do with Midterm Elections.
I think they will block all conservative nominees, which in turn will anger the electorate, who will turn out in force on November 6. At least that is how I hope it turns out.
131 days.
The majority leader schedules the hearings on the nominee. McConnell is majority leader. That’s how he was able to stop Garland. He simply refused to schedule the hearing. Dems do not have that power right now.
As things stand, the dems have zero ability to stop anything to do with this process. All they can do is raise hell and look stupid during the committee hearings, which they will do in spades which will work in favor of republicans.
The ONLY thing that can interfere with confirmation of whoever Trump nominates is GOP defection.
That is an incredibly bad idea. If dems take over the senate in November, Trump will have to compromise on the nominee.
The Senate already invoked nuclear option with Gorsuch. Filibuster is no longer in play for Supreme Court nominees. Only requires majority vote to end debate.
I think the Democrats hope that if they stall a vote until after November, that this could be a winning issue in many senate races.
Liberals hair are on fire!
The smoke smells like victory.
Sleep well, Chris.
heheh.
While I am not confident that the Flakes, Collins and Murkowski’s of the world will vote for a Trump nominee, I am confident that they will allow a vote. Cloture will happen.
What then Chrissy Tingles? What will Manchin and other Red State dems do then? What will your strategy be in those states where Trump romped? Wait, I know, call the voters of those states “racist nazis” and shame them into voting democrat. Yep, that is the ticket.
Chrissy looked bad tonight - looked like he had a heavy date with a quart of Johnny Walker Red. Has Chris Matthews ever been sober for one of his broadcasts?
If I don’t see proof of life on McLame, I say he can’t vote.
Can a Senator vote remotely? I am guessing he can’t. That’s why they are always running to the floor for a vote. If they could vote remotely, it could be anyone hacking in and voting.
No. There is only downside to waiting. There is no downside to starting the process immediately with the goal of getting it done before the election. Consider:
- New nominee is confirmed. Done.
- New nominee is not confirmed. It would be true then that the Dems pulled some illegitimate stunts and lies and delays, that some of the usual Rinos went rogue again, etc. Voters are enraged, possibly resulting in better Republican turnout in the elections. It might also be true that Democrats are now feeling their oats, possibly resulting in better Democrat turnout as well, but what follows from that is just a guess.
As others have mentioned, a very real risk is that the Dems realize a net gain of Senate seats. Just two or maybe even just one is big trouble.
Except that Clinton the Rapist deserved it
True. But that assumes all Republicans will vote for confirmation. McCain? Collins?
McCain, Flake & Corker could easily vote against confirmation. What is wrong with Arizona?
Listen to Obama, Chris. Get a tingle. Elections have consequences, you drooling, steaming pile of excrement!
Pissy Chrissy...why don’t you go take a long dirt nap! Aren’t you 80 years old, already?
