Ten D Senators up for election in red states. There is no way they will take the Senate - the only question is whether R control will go up by 1 or 10. Likely at least Manchin and a couple of others at risk will support the nominee, cancelling out R defections.
If the Democrats obstruct the nomination, they will pay a heavy price.
They can wheel him in on a gurney, tubes and all, but pray God he’ll kick the bucket before he gets his finger on the Vote Button.

I suspect that after November, we will have more than 51 Republican senators. Perhaps 54, 55, even 60. Then, we can shove the most conservative judges in the country through the Senate, and we’ll be able to lose a Collins here or a Murkowski there. With any luck, ginnsy and breyer will kick off soon, and with that many Republicans in the Senate, we can build a rock-solid, super-conservative, young, super majority on the Court that will last for decades.
Nobody watches Matthews so nobody heard him.
