Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) on Sunday accused President Trump of using immigration rhetoric and "cruel, inhumane policies" to energize his political base.
"The president uses words like 'they're breeders,' 'in sanctuary cities they're protecting breeders.' He said yesterday 'they come to infest.' I mean, these are the kinds of words that the Republican Party and this president uses," Gutiérrez said on ABC's "This Week." "And he doesn't use it as immigration policy, he doesn't use it as border control policy, he uses it as an issue in order to energize his political base for the midterm elections."
"It's wrong to separate babies, to use cruel, inhumane policies in order to gin up your political base," he continued.
Gutiérrez's comments come days after Trump signed an executive order halting his administration's policy of separating migrant families apprehended at the border.
The "zero tolerance" policy, announced in April, seeks to aggressively prosecute those attempting to cross into the U.S. illegally via the southern border. Under the policy, more than 2,000 migrant families were separated after crossing the U.S.–Mexico border illegally.

Even though he is Puerto Rican, he is the 2nd most influential Congressman that Mexico has in the House.
He has stated that Chicago is the third largest Mexican city behind Los Angeles and Mexico City.

I seriously doubt that Trump has used the word ‘breeders’. That word is used by the Left to identify straight, married couples who have children. Rep Luis, you outed yourself! Accusing Trump of using a word that is solely the property of the Left?? Projection!

yeah- like the democrats aren’t fear monguering about the issue to win mid terms- and so what if Trump is using hte issue? It’s aq very serious issue that needs to be dealt with now- because both the left and right have ignored it for decades-
I remember him saying that one of the hardest things for him to learn before running for office was to have a Spanish accent, as he was born in the US and spent much of his childhood here, before moving to Puerto Rico, and then later moving back to the US.
Oops, when I read “It’s wrong to separate babies”, I immediately thought of late term abortions. Of course he wouldn’t be decrying that. My bad.
There is a great opportunity here and the Dems don’t see it. The Zero Tolerance initiative, whatever the POTUS’ opinions was the creation of AG Seessions. He announced it and has overseen its enforcement. Trump can now claim, with cause, that Sessions failed to see the conseqiuences of enforcement or saw them and either did not make preparations or did not care. Either way this creates a legitimate reason to fire Sessions with no reference to Russia and the election. The new AG can remove Mueller on the very real grounds that his appointment came about ONLY because of Sessions’ role in the campaign and subsequent refusal.
They’re plan to gin up their base by creating a fake “crisis” is falling apart, and will be old news by election day, so they are now accusing Trump of exploiting the issue.
I’m sure the dems/media had planned to unleash this “crisis” in October, but because of all the successes Trump has had, they felt compelled to unleash it early as a distraction. Now that it appears to be failing, they have nothing left. I’m also sure that they will come up with some new “crisis” somewhere for October.
