A panel of pollsters is predicting that Democrats will win back 23 seats in this years midterm elections, enough to win back the house majority.
Hill.TVs What Americas Thinking canvassed its panel of pollsters on how many seats Democrats will gain.
The average answer for the first-ever Poll of Pollsters was 23 seats, the show announced Friday.
Thats exactly the number that Democrats need to flip control of the chamber from Republicans. (What a coincidence)
I feel like if 2016 taught us nothing, it is we should not make predictions. So Im doing this under duress Ill have you know, joked pollster Anna Greenberg, who predicted Democrats would gain 25 seats.
Republican pollster Ed Goeas of the Tarrance Group predicted it was a better than even chance that Democrats reclaim control of the House for the first time in eight years.
He predicted Democrats would net 23 seats.
Carly Cooperman, a partner at Schoen Consulting and a Democratic pollster, predicted a gain of 24 seats. We see the generic vote is in the Democratic favor and a lot of the competitive seats are held by Republicans, she said.
Former Clinton pollster Mark Penn predicted a gain of 28 seats for Democrats.
The Poll of Pollsters is an unscientific survey. It canvasses about two-dozen top pollsters in the country on a question of public interest and then averages the total of the answers.

And Hillary Clinton will win the presidential election.
Don’t follow the numbers. Follow the trend.
Polls weren’t that popular until Bill Clinton took office. Then there was a poll for everything.
Not to be forgotten: Bill getting lewinskied thrust (pun intended) Hillary into national positioning----something she
desperately wanted. Bill apparently had held her back "til it was her turn." Now, overnight, Hillary was at the
top and she grabbed every opportunity. Maybe Hillary calculated she could help usher Pres Bill out the door, and
fulfill her dream.....being a presidential candidate.
TIMELINE----One Clinton lies.....
"I never had sexual relations with that woman...Miss Lewinsky."
And the other Clinton swears to it.
=============================================
VINTAGE TIME COVER The Clintons leave the WH
arm-in-arm after Bill got lewinskied. Plotting to exploit
Bill's BJ for votes, the Clintons' political apparat never faltered.
That smirk on Hillary's fave tells the story.
Hillary later went on network TV all decked out in virginal pearls, to lie lie lie
denying everything, blaming Billy's B/J on "an invention of a VRWC."
Bill later admitted to it, was impeached, and disbarred.
He had to pay Paula Jones 800,000 dollars.
Are they ready to drop a huge bet in Vegas on it? I’d bet not.
Oh you obviously are not counting local. Got it.
You are dumb. This past Tuesday there was an election in Miami....we lost. Wake up from your lies!!!!! Its getting old. I live in Florida. You dont!!!!!
Didnt say they did but losing state elections is not great. We brag about obama losing 1,000 seats and a good chunk were state seats. Cant have it both ways. Plus we need state seats for redistricting in 2020.
Its frustrating that republicans are asleep at the wheel. And people here keep saying who care.....seriously what is wrong with people on here. I know we are in a bubble but some need to get out more and see reality.
You may be missing Virginia. The dems flipped 16 House of Delegates seats here alone.
I just posted the State legislative races in Florida for 2018. The last one was in May.
The only race on the ballot on Tuesday was for a seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission. That’s not a State legislative race.
You can stamp your feet all you want, and claim that you live in Florida, but you aren’t entitled to your own facts:

Of what value is a poll of left-wing pollsters? If you poll people you KNOW are predicting 23-28 seat gains for the Dems, isn’t the conclusion already set?
I only looked at the State legislative special elections, because that’s the drum that the left has been beating. Virginia was a general election.
They never mention that Virginia is included in the total. (Virginia was 15 BTW, not 16.)
Even if we include it, it’s 35, not 44.
I think I see what they are doing now. They are counting the seats that the Democrats flipped in 2017 special elections (14) and the seats that they flipped in the 2018 elections (11) and then adding Virginia (15).
That would get the number to 40.
They then ignore the seats that the GOP flipped from Democrat to Republican in 2017 (4) and 2018 (1).
Which would make it 35.
Great news. These pollsters were dead on in 2016.
They are lulled by the bad polling of 2016. It’s foolish. What is so wrong with pointing out the special elections we lost and the current polling? It’s much better than we do now before it’s too late. If there are warning signs, pay attention. Things move so fast these days, though, that who knows what can happen over the next five months? I hope it’s good for us or something that incentivizes Republicans.
Read my lips...folks. Just as I was right on the money with the 2016 POTUS, race...here is the current status of the Mid-Term election outcomes. Note: Democrat Party has no single powerful leader..period. Obama is a joke!!! Shucks he may end up in prison with Mueller & Comey, etc.
Democrat Party is in full panic mode and is inflicting its own self destruction.
Democrats will lose between 6-12 Senate Seats & Democrats will lose 12-20 House seats...which will virtually destroy the Democrat Party as an effective, functioning political organization.
GDP comes in at above 4% then its the R’s in a blue wave.
It’s because the new California “Democrats have a lock on it” system. They think they’ll pick up many seats just because of CA. And it’s probably true.
Democrats in CA have rigged the system so Democrats have an overwhelming advantage.
Yup. Off years. Special elections. The Dems get the unions out and it's a cakewalk.
The generic Congressional poll isprobably oversampled with California voters. Means nothing.
