(CNN)There is a truly remarkable number in the most recent CNN poll, conducted by SSRS and out this morning.
In it, 42% of Americans say President Donald Trump should be impeached and removed from office. What makes it remarkable is that he's on par with President Richard Nixon, who 43% of Americans said should be impeached and removed from office in a March 1974 Harris poll. That was after the scale of Watergate came to light, but months before the House started to move against Nixon, who would go on to resign in August 1974 rather than be impeached.
Impeachment requires "treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors," according to the Constitution, which also lists it as the the only thing for which a President can't issue a pardon. Trump has bragged that he certainly has the power to pardon himself but won't need to use it. Nixon got a pardon from Gerald Ford, the man to whom he gave the keys to the White House.
The 43% supporting Nixon's impeachment in that Harris poll, by the way, is much higher than the 29% who supported impeachment for President Bill Clinton in 1998. Or, for that matter, the similar number who wanted Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush impeached. As CNN's Grace Sparks writes, there's basically "a baseline of pro-impeachment sentiment for a modern president" and Trump far eclipses it. So why aren't top Democrats clamoring to impeach Trump? To be sure, there are efforts on the outskirts of the party and in Congress, but they do not have the backing of party big wigs.
Most Democrats in Congress, for the record, have opposed efforts by Rep. Al Green, a Texas Democrat, to bring the issue to the floor of the House.

1000 adults..lol
CNN push poll
SSRS has no info about this poll on their website. There is one article about this poll that says they polled a little more than 1,000 adults. Thats the entirety of Reporting the internals of the poll.
I conclude the poll was designed to get results the the purchaser, CNN, would like.
Who is SSRS? Never heard of ‘em.
Okay....I found out who this (likely owned by CNN or CFI or $orass) outfit is.
Here is a list of their clients.....reads like a (laughable) leftist media gathering....
Someone needs to screenshot their client page and post to this thread.
just red ones.
The level of power of a Propaganda Machine over busy Americans trying to feel and react correctly in order to be liked is about where you think it would be, at nearly 60%. Humans are easily led.
Time to bring back the Milgram Experiment. Not enough current Americans know about it and its conclusions. They need to know that it is THEM.
Ping to post 144.
:-)
If you ask them, they say its because he is racist and hates [jews, blacks, Mexicans, gays, etc]. Oh, and he is blunt so that makes him dumber than they are. Even though they believe propaganda.
A YUGE thank you, for posting that Clients page, of this bogus SSRS polling group.
Appreciate the assist :-)
Ping to post #149.
Client list of this SSRS outfit.
Reads like a lefty club reunion.
Winning the election.
Unfortunately, with the Inspector General Report, some information came out that would completely destroy their star witness. In any proceeding, you would see a opening dialogue in Trump's defense like this:
TRUMP'S LAWYER: Good day, Mr. Comey. During the summer and fall of 2016, what major investigation were you overseeing?
COMEY: You are likely referring to the investigation of Hillary Clinton's use of an unauthorized email account and server system for official business and disclosure of classified documents to unauthorized personnel via that unauthorized system.
TRUMP'S LAWYER: That sounds quite serious. Is that a felony investigation? And would you fire and prosecute an FBI employee who engaged using private email for official FBI business? if so under what law, and why?
COMEY: Well...er...all text messages and emails while working on government business are characterized as official Federal Records, and as thus, must be available for archiving and review. Using a private email address or system to communicate information, whether classified or not, is a violation of that law. So, er...yes. We would fire and prosecute an employee caught using private email for official business.
TRUMP'S LAWYER: For the record, I have a copy of that law in my hand titled 18 U.S. Code § 1519 - Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in Federal investigations and bankruptcy, and it states: "Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both."
COMEY: Er...yes. That's it, I believe.
TRUMP'S LAWYER: Mr. Comey, you are present at these impeachment hearings as the key witness to obstruction of justice charges against President Donald J. Trump. You have said on the record you would fire any employee of the FBI using personal email to conduct official government business, is that correct.
COMEY: Er...yes.
TRUMP'S LAWYER: Mr. Comey, have you, yourself, ever knowingly used personal email for official government business in deliberate violation of Federal Law as stated in 18 U.S. Code § 1519? And if that is the case, how can you say Trump had no justification to fire you due to any number of things from incompetence to deliberate avoiding of if not breaking federal laws?
COMEY: Well, er...the, uh...the real thing we...er...should...ah, take into...
TRUMP'S LAWYER: Thank you. I rest my case.
More fake news from CNN
No details of the poll are provided, either. But CNN can be trusted to conduct polls fairly and objectively, using established scientific methods./s
