Fox: Blacks tell me conditions in border detention centers 'are better than some of the projects'

Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy on Friday defended the child detention centers where undocumented immigrant children are being kept, saying that “some African-Americans" told her the conditions are better than those in which they were raised.

“The detention centers are far safer than the journey that these children just came on,” she said. “I spoke to some African-Americans who say, 'Gosh, the conditions of the detention centers are better than some of the projects that I grew up in.’”

Campos-Duffy made the comment on Laura Ingraham’s show, “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday night after Ingraham came under fire earlier this week for saying that the detention centers are “essentially summer camps.”

Ingraham later walked back her comments, and said she would refer to them as being “like boarding schools” a comparison she had read elsewhere.

The commentary comes as backlash continues over the Trump administration’s immigration policies, which have resulted in more than 2,000 migrant children being separated from their parents.

So they are in one of those brand-new cots in those brand-new deluxe tents with a heavy-duty air-conditioner/heater attached? They’re eating nutritious and delicious meals three times a day plus snacks and beverages? They have shower, laundry and wash facilities and toilets? Medical and dental attention are being provided? Recreation? Religious services? Social workers? Legal representation? Clothing, underwear and toiletries? I’ll bet our homeless citizens and poor elderly would jump on that!! I know the homeless veterans I worked with in the 1980’s would feel like they won the lottery.

Back in my Adventures in Urban Substituting (five years since I stopped, so it was ObamaTime), I spent two days in a "Welcome Academy" Head Start PreSchool. The Welcome Academy was in a new building, central to where newcomers to the US were likely to live. The classroom had its own private outdoor playground with new equipment, hundreds of books and activities, more toys and games than a toy store. The young ones were fed breakfast and lunch and a healthy snack. In addition to a regular educational and play schedule they had instruction in hygiene, tooth brushing, keeping ones space neat and clean. They had specialists come in every week for music, art, speech therapy, and phys ed. And, oh yeah, teachers and security had to be very, very careful that the kids were left off and picked up by the registered parent.

So, yeah, from what I saw at the Newcomers Academy at all grade levels, those children were using up a disproportionate share of resources.

Yes. This is a perfect time for Trump and FOTUS to start going to inner city schools where American citizens go. These schools are mostly in lib run cities. Start highlighting the plight of these AMerican cities ASAP. All this attention to kids that aren’t citizens is beyond the pale.

When the projects were first built they were clean and equipped with the things needed to have a decent family life. Then Nixon, Reagan, the Bushes, Trump and other whites came in and dirtied the places up, leading to bedbugs, rats and roaches. And they broke the fixtures, scattered used needles and crack glassies in the hallways and landings, pissed in the corners, graffitied the walls and broke the windows.

Absolutely the conditions are lightyears better than the primitive conditions from which they came. Most if not all have NO idea how to use toilets or showers ! Check some public bathrooms-the ones allowed in STILL don't understand modern sanitation-or don't care.

As for the project comparison- NO project was built filthy and destroyed-the inhabitants made them that way. ANYWHERE lazy, entitled people are will end up the same. Anyone see any comparisons between all Hispanic barrios and inner city projects?
